NASA announced to the public on February 13 of the estimated arrival of their new Perseverance probe on Mars on February 18, 3:55 p.m. EST. 

Associate Administrator for Communications Marc Etkind said, “If there’s one thing we know, it’s that landing on Mars is never easy.”

On-air coverage of the landing will begin on the afternoon of the 18th, along with virtual activities to engage with the public. The agency would also host a first-ever Spanish show for the landing. “We’d like to highlight the role of Hispanic scientists and engineers in this achievement,” says Etkind. 

Numerous individuals have already signed up for the activities and are quite ecstatic for the landing. 

“With all of this pandemic going on,” says Jack, a college student, “It’s a nice change of pace for the world.”

Philippine president Duterte has approved pilot plans, on February 16th, 2021, for hybrid learning  for schools in low-risk areas.

Yesterday morning, at a press conference regarding the deteriorating mental health of children due to the COVID pandemic in the island of Northern Luzon, Rodrigo Duterte stated; “the approval of the implementation of pilot plans is to be further discussed in the coming month of February.” 

He later went on to mention that schools “must and will reopen in a timely and safe manner” in the month of March. 

Many worry, finding these statements hard to believe, knowing Rodrigo Duterte for his “statements made with little or no evidence or thought behind them,” says Maddie Roberto, age 25. 

Others believe precautionary measures implemented against the reopening of schools are necessary to slow the curve of the COVID virus. In fact, Angelica dela Cruz, mother of two, worries for the health of at risk groups such as the elderly and frontline workers. She states “the kids must continue their online studies, for not only their health but for the health of those most at risk.” 

However, citizens remain hopeful as they wait for further conferences regarding COVID precautions, and the potential reopening of the country and its economy, particularly hard hit by the COVID-19 pandemic.

While traveling to a new station in Antarctica on February 12th, a group of scientists stumbled upon a species of poisonous frog hidden in a small cave. Shocked, they decided to investigate further inside, only to find more than 20 frogs of that same species. 

Animal specialists around the world have little information on this phenomenon so far, but believe the frogs may have been genetically modified from a similar species that once roamed Antarctica 40 million years ago. Find more information about the original frog here.

‘It’s the craziest thing. We’ve never seen anything like it!’ stated Dr. Jonathan Holmes, one of the scientists who discovered the frogs says in an interview with the Frog Times. 

Unable to travel abroad due to the COVID-19 pandemic, scientists will have to wait to perform tests on this new discovery, but hope to travel by mid March.

President Biden has been infected by COVID-19 since his second dose of vaccination. It has been proven that his political rival, former President Donald Trump, bribed medical officials to refrain from giving him a dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, but instead injected the virus into President Biden during his ‘vaccination’. 

President Biden is due to announce his positive COVID test next Monday in a video on the White House lawn, the Secret Service disclosed. 

When President Biden was injected with the vaccine, Mr. Trump had not left the White House and the election was not over.

“The Vice President, Kamala Harris, has strongly suggested President Biden to not announce the cause of his infection. But I felt, as a member of the Secret Service, I am duty-bound to America, and America must know the truth.”

Donald Trump was found guilty of creating a riot at the US Capitol last Friday. Over 2/3 of the Senate agreed and supported a guilty verdict.

Last night Trump said “This is a hoax and we will fix this”, implying that he will try to get in power again.

Riots have started outside of the capitol and the White House. These riots have caused 15 confirmed deaths due to attacks on Trump haters. The nearby shops are being destroyed and griefed. 

“People are outrageous right now because of what the Senate decided to do with the impeachment of Trump” says a Trump supporter in a near barber shop. 

There are many Trump supporters that are also disgusted by the senate’s decision and are planning on a demonstration using Twitter in the next few days.

Former President Donald J. Trump won his impeachment trial on February 14 at the High Court of Impeachment. 

After the January 6 attack on the United States capitol, Democrats in Congress and the Senate deemed it necessary to put former President Donald Trump on trial despite him no longer being president. As a result, Trump’s lawyers and Republicans that sided with him state the trial is ‘unconstitutional.’ 

There are three major steps for Trump's conviction to succeed: impeachment passes through Congress, impeachment is available to be on trial in the Senate, and the actual Senate trial. 

After the impeachment papers arrived at Congress, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi moved quicker than usual on bills to pass the Impeachment Trial through Congress. Pelosi firmly believed that President Trump should be impeached in a statement during the trial. All 222 Democrats in the House along with several Republicans voted for the bill to pass through Congress.

On February 9, 2021, all 50 Senate Democrats along with six Republicans voted that the impeachment trial was constitutional. Bill Cassidy, one of the Republicans who voted that the trial was constitutional, stated, “There are those who think that I should put President Trump above the Constitution. That’s not conservatism, that is not Republicanism, and I reject it.” 

After the impeachment was put on trial at the United States Senate, 57 Senators voted to convict Trump, while 43 voted to acquit Former President Donald Trump. 

According to the filibuster rule in the senate, ⅔ of the Senate has to vote to convict the person on trial in order to be truly convicted. Former President Donald Trump’s trial falls under that category and he has been acquitted.

Chinese president Xi Jinping was spotted dining at the Fu 1015 in Shanghai with Russian president, Vladimir Putin yesterday at 7:02 PM (19:02) CST. The two were photographed by the Chinese paparazzi through an open window looking into their private dining room.

According to a source at the restaurant, the Russian president was accompanied by three bodyguards, while the Chinese leader came with one of his closest advisors, Wang Huning and four more bodyguards. 

Zhang Ming, who founded the social media giant TikTok was also present at the Fu 1015 that night and told reporters that when staff were asked who was inside the private room, they were told it was confidential. 

It is unclear what it was they discussed over their dumplings and noodles. However, many people see this meeting as a threat to non-allied nations. Former US President Donald Trump made a statement earlier this morning saying, “They (Putin and Jinping) are plotting against us, they’re going to start World War 3 and it is not going to be my fault.”

Apart from the two leaders’ four-course meal sending foreign leaders into a panic because of possible attacks from the two nations, it has inspired comedians all across the globe making it the topic of conversation.

On Tuesday afternoon, ISM Principal, David Toze, announced a new regulation in which ISM students will begin conducting classes on Saturdays. Mr. Toze worries students lack time and ability to learn during distance learning. In fact, he states, “With this extra day of learning, I wish that students can learn more and have better learning support by having more class and tutorial time.

This rule has caused students and teachers to protest yet the headmaster hasn’t responded to the issue. Most parents were pleased with this rule, unlike their children. 

Parent  Rachel Smith stated “My son has been playing video games non-stop recently and each time I tell him to do his homework, he always says that he has none which I checked, is apparently true. I’m so glad this rule was implemented as I have been worried about his education. With this additional school day,  hopefully, my son can learn more and truly be wiser”

Since the argument of whether Saturday school days were necessary, students have been skipping school and were deceitful towards their parents as they would lie about being in their classes. 

Mr. Toze finally sent an email regarding the issue. “We haven’t expected this rule to cause this much of a disaster. As a Bearcat, we need to be kind and loyal towards our actions. The middle school team will discuss what we should do about this situation. For now, we will continue to have Saturday classes.”

ISM presently has 620 students attending virtual Middle school via Zoom.

ISManila’s classes are to be extended to 4pm beginning next week. This will have an affect all students currently attending the school, regardless of timezone, due to everyone having to attend the extended classes. 

Mr. Toze , ISM Superintendent, decided this would, “Benefit every student due to how short the school days have been recently, and the nature of online classes”. 

This  has caused major outburst from  parents, teachers, and students alike, leading to some families even withdrawing their children from ISM completely due to stress.

“My children can barely handle the amount of work they were giving out before this, I simply cannot continue to let them go to school at ISM anymore.” says Abee Bola Bola, distressed parent says.

Larry Beter, a multi-millionaire businessman says he might have sent a loan of 1.9 million dollars to a 14 year old boy through an online trading card market. Larry Beter had hoped to buy himself a first edition copy of a holographic charizard pokemon card. 

For Syoon Kin it was all just chance that he also had the same name as the seller that was already selling the Pokemon card to Larry Beter. “I guess that the universe just wants me to have the 2 mil” says Syoon Kin, who is still denying that he was just lucky.

Larry Beter realized the misunderstanding the next day. He does not plan on getting the money back from Syoon Kin. “I feel like this kid will do great things in the future, and I may or may not be only investing into his future to get money back from him later in his life” stated Larry Beter after exchanging the money with the real Syoon Kin.

Syoon Kim is a Pokemon collector who owns over 40000 cards.

On Sunday, October 4th, Bill Gates confirmed that he did start the coronavirus. He finally came clean on Twitter but soon deleted the post but not before the general public could take pictures and spread them around. Though his intentions are unclear, people speculate that it was a ploy to have world-wide ID chips implanted into every person along with the vaccine, acting as a digital certificate showing that you were vaccinated.

Earlier on in the virus, rumors circulated that none other than Bill Gates, formerly known as the richest man alive, had started the coronavirus. Although it was seen as absurd at first, with this newfound confirmation all people of the world must remain on high alert.

 In 2015, Gates held a Ted-Talk called “The Next Outbreak? We're not ready” wherein he talks about the then recent ebola outbreak. He then moves on to talk about a hypothetical virus. He described it as “people feel well enough while they’re infectious that they get on a plane, or go to a market”.

People are advised to remain vigilant. Even though we are heavily reliant on our devices right now, the impending threat of what may come is too great of a risk not to be cautious.

During the week of November 1st,  scientists discovered a new species hidden in the depths of the ocean.  The discovery was made accidentally by the Pacific Whale Foundation. At the time of the discovery, the Pacific Whale Foundation (PWF) was doing a study on orcas and their natural habitats but ended up discovering a new species. They call this animal a ‘Whale dog’ as it looks like a hybrid between a whale and a dog.

This discovery has shocked many scientists all over the world. The whale dog (Orcinus Canis lupus familiaris) is an interesting looking creature, having the body of a whale and the head of a dog.

 Biologists are unsure of how the species came to be and it's origins as of now, but speculate that the whale and the dog have come from the same ancestors leading to this unheard of hybrid. In the following weeks the PWF hopes to conduct more studies on this new species to figure out some of the common questions circulating around the media.

During Game three of the 2020 finals, Lebron James was going up for a dunk when he landed wrong on his right foot and broke it. 

In a press conference after the game Lebron stated, ”I will be done for the rest of the series.”This could be really bad for the Lakers because he is an important player for the team and without him, they probably will not play as well.  

The Lakers are winning the series two to one, but because of the injury, the Heat have a greater chance to win more games. Lebron is their guy to take the last shot. If they need a basket they would give it to Lebron. Now that he is injured, they won't have that guy.

Recently it has become clear for all scientists: the epidemic is no close to the end. As the virus is spreading, less and less people are recovering from it. On October 32,  the WHO had declared that it would not be possible  to produce a vaccine that would kill the virus. Instead they now proposed another solution: drink a glass of alcohol every day. The alcohol will reportedly kill off the virus with twenty-four hours.

Previously alcohol was used for sanitizing hands. This week most scientists realized it isn't a problem on the outside of the body, but rather on the inside.

On October 17 studies at Harvard  have shown that there is a new way to contract the infamous COVID-19. Scientists discover that you can now contract COVID-19 through water-specifically unfiltered water. 

Kevin Bob stated, “It is true we have found a new infection for COVID-19, we are trying our best to understand this new discovery and we are trying our best to keep you safe.”

Kevin Bob gives some ways you can try to avoid contacting it through this new way: when you’re in the shower if you get any water in you mouth then do not swallow it spit it out immediately, do not drink water from the tap only drink water that has been filtered, use hand sanitizer all the time.

Loch Ness monster is claimed to be real, yet again, by a group of fishermen near Loch ness whilst having photo evidence of the monster’s silhouette. On October the 1st, during noon the group claims to have seen the monster when returning from their fishing trip

According to fisher Scottie Scotland,  they did not have any luck catching any fish no matter what techniques they had tried. “We’ve tried everything to catch some fish. We were here to have a fun time and catch some fish, but all we caught was frustration.”

It was seeming like the fishing trip was a total failure. “We were about to head home with our heads down because of the lack of success in fishing when we noticed a small fish swimming away almost as if it was scared by something. This is when we saw the Loch Ness monster. I think that’s why we couldn’t find any fish, the monster was scaring it away”

The fishermen's’ efforts were not for nothing, as they were able to get a picture. It will be auctioned online.

The mayor of Los Angeles, Eric Carcetti, has confirmed zero cases in Los Angeles for the past two weeks since November 1st. 

Despite the celebrities throwing parties and gatherings, they managed to fight through everything and confirm zero cases in the entire city. Los Angeles, a city with half the population of Manila, has recovered at an astonishing rate.

Los Angeles is starting to resume a normal life. Stores and restaurants are back in businesses and they hope to keep it in that situation. However, doctors started to notice a lot of people not wearing masks and predicts that COVID cases could rise soon. 

Schools are planning to resume classes starting after October break and hope to keep a safe environment at school for the students and the teachers. A student from Beverly Hills high quoted, “I’m excited to go back to school but I’m scared I’m risking my life.” Many students agreed with her and hopes going back to school would not be too dangerous for them.

Ginger-Ale, a carbonated drink made primarily of ginger, can cure COVID-19, according to a Natural Cures: Halamang Gamot post on Facebook last February 9.  

"Cure for coronavirus: If ever you contract this disease, don’t eat anything within 24 hours. Boil ginger or make warm ginger ale and make this your water. Drink this continuously for 3 days," says Natural Cures. 

Ginger-ale is a known remedy for headaches, coughs and colds. It boosts the immune system and helps  guard against the coronavirus. In Indonesia, ginger demand has gone up 50% since the beginning of the pandemic. 

Joni, an employee of Natural Cures Indonesia confirmed this, saying, “We have enough stocks to last 10 to 12 months. We have raw materials, half-made products and even stock in outlets.”

In Korea on February 15th. Seyoon Kim, a consumer of the online market known as Gmarket claims that a book scheduled to be delivered never arrived.

“It just vanished out of thin air”.  Seyoon Kim said to the investigators.

Seyoon Kim is accused of tarnishing Gmarkets reputation, or supernatural forces and maybe government intervention. It was a Tuesday afternoon at 7:00pm, the delivery man came around four to seven pm. Seyoon received a message from his parents about the arrival. When Seyoon went  to pick it up the package it disappeared. 

In a recent interview after the incident it was found that the package was actually left at his neighbor's door instead of his. The incident has been resolved, and Gmarket  is being questioned about its professionality. 

The weather temperature was two degrees Celsius and the winds at nine kilometers per hour.

On October 5, 2020,  news spread around the world that the President of the United States of America, Donald Trump, had passed away from COVID-19. Doctor Lyra Murphy says, “He suffered very severe symptoms, such as respiratory damage. This resulted in the loss of the ability to breathe for the 74-year-old President.

 “The symptoms that the president experienced were vastly different from the usual ones.” Dr. Murphy mentioned during an interview. “There were no cases of the COVID-19 completely destroying the left lung of a person before. This could be a sign that the coronavirus has started to evolve,” the doctor stated. 

The funeral is planned to be held next week. Only his close family members will be invited, as the virus can be present on the body, which could then be transmitted through the air.

White House officials have stated that Trump has passed after contracting the SARS-Covid-2 virus. The news was released on October 5th at 2 PM. Many people are still trying to get more details as we speak.

The President contracted the virus on October 2nd. Many of Trump’s close contacts  have contracted the virus although Joe Biden has not contracted it.

Vice President Mike Pence will be temporarily running the United States until the election is over. Many things are still surrounded in mystery but once we know more we will be sure to alert you.

Donald Trunp has passed away due  to a heart attack at 1:23am on October 12.  His condition progressively worsened until his suprising death. Doctors at the Washington Hospital are saying that the severity of his case was due to overeating and lack of exercise.

“It is devastating, but we all saw it coming,” said Barron, his 14 year old son. 

Doctors and medical professionals are warning the American public to stay healthy, quarantine, and follow everything the late President Trump didn’t do.
