Installing
The Leader Powerwall 3 is the unit connected to the Backup Gateway / Backup Switch via the 12V/CAN wiring. All other units are Followers.
Any Powerwall 3 can be designated as the Leader as long as it is the unit connected to the Backup Gateway / Backup Switch - part number does not matter.
Leader
Only one unit will be connected to the 12 V/CAN of the islanding device.
Important to note: the unit with this connection will be considered the Leader unit, which will matter during the commissioning steps.
This example shows four Powerwall 3 units, each with their own breaker.
The Leader is connected to the Backup Gateway.
Communication is daisy-chained from each Powerwall 3 to the next.
Each unit is connected to a single system shutdown switch.
Multiple Powerwall Example
NOTE: Internet connections for Powerwall 3 Leader units must be connected via WI-FI or Ethernet. When connecting the Leader to a customer's router, the Powerwall 3 can only be connected at either end of the chain. Connection in the middle of the chain is not allowed

REMINDER: When installing a System Shutdown Switch, connect each Powerwall 3 to a dedicated electrical contact of the switch. Ensure the installed System Shutdown Switch has enough electrical contacts for the number of units installed.
