In this section we will go over common install practices and common parts associated with for conduits and raceways.
Common parts
EMT Connector (They can vary in size 1/2", 3/4", etc)
EMT Coupling (similar to the conntector) (They can vary in size 1/2", 3/4", etc)
A common failed inspection that we get is the crew will just hand tight the connectors/couplings. Here are some examples of them tighten/loosen/hand tight.
It will be hard to determine if a connector/coupling is tighten or hand tight. But we need to be on the watch for them loose.
Conduit supports
We install a wide variety of conduit supports, biggest thing that we need to make sure that we are adhering to is NEC 358.30(B) - EMT will be supported every 10ft and within 3ft of termination points. Below are some common supports that we have used.
Here is a good example of the distance of how far we need to secure the conduit runs
Common raceways
These are the common raceways that we install with EMT conduit runs. One thing that we need to pay attention with these is that LightReach requires a small weep hole drilled into the body.
Common EMT Part
This is a roof boot that the install can punch straight through the roof to the soffit and bypass the attic run. Things that we need to be aware about these is that they need to be installed about halfway under the shingles. Below is a example.
