ECOCLASS SERBIA. RUMA
Students and teachers from a school from Badajoz, Spain visited secondary vocational school "Branko Radičević" from Ruma, and part of the projecta activites was realized. Our teachers and students after the presentation about the idea of ECOCLASS are inspired to do what is applicable for our school. As there are several educational profiles in the school, the purpose of the ECOCLASS was found by clothing modelers and our caterers/cooks.
Our students of the modeling department started a campaign to collect old clothes, plastic materials, old sacks, as well as all materials that will no longer be used and some of which could be recycled. From old sacks they made bags, from torn jeans they made pencil case, from large plastic bags and old newspapers they made dresses. They approached the whole process in a very organized way: They advertised the action of connecting old materials, chose a classroom that would be ECO, designed clothing and decorative items according to school schemes, cut, sewed and finally displayed their products in the hall of the textile department.
I am sending more photos in the attachment of this text.
Our chefs practice every day in the school kitchen. After food preparation, food material and packaging are generally thrown together in the same garbage. Since a couple of years ago, our teachers and their students started sorting waste and thus raising awareness about recycling and preserving our environment. In the meantime, after the presentation of the Spanish colleagues, a small private entrepreneur from a nearby village got in touch with the school's project coordinator and they began to develop cooperation in the field of delivering waste materials - food, so that he could make compost and later use it in his agricultural production. Encouraged by this idea, the students approached each food preparation with an emphasis on waste separation. The biology and nutrition teachers (otherwise professional subjects for these students) explained the entire composting process to them.
I am also sending pictures below.
A good idea and excellent cooperation with Spanish colleagues initiated a number of other activities in our school regarding outdoor classrooms, outdoor classes, one-time professional trips, and more. Over time, we expect the same to be realized.
Until next year, when we can raise our cooperation to a higher level, big ECO greetings from Ruma
