The election was established in 1995 and has been held every two years since 1998. Its purpose is to recognize and commend outstanding teens. By celebrating their efforts, it aims to establish societal role models and encourage young people to care about and actively participate in society.
The Hong Kong Outstanding Teen award consisted of three rounds of reviews, which included the first round of application review, then followed by two rounds of interviews. There were over 1000 students applied this year and 30 students were awarded. The award consists of 3 categories, which included
an achievement category (being very talented in an instrument for example),
a determination category (having a tough life/disease and overcoming that for example) as well as
a community service/achievement category (actively involved in community services and making a difference//many other forms), I was one of the students awarded in the community service/achievement category.
As part of the recognition, award recipients will be invited to join the "Outstanding Teens Association." In this role, they will engage in community service and assist those in need, fostering a sense of responsibility towards society.
The prestigious ceremony took place during the Summer Break, with awards presented by Mrs. Regina Leung, wife of the Chief Executive of Hong Kong SAR. Well deserved!
