The Week Ahead...

Here is where you will find information about upcoming topics, activities and assessments. Please make sure you check this page regularly so you're aware of what's coming up in the week ahead.

Week 1: Aug. 28 - Aug. 31st, 2023

This week, all classes will be receiving their textbooks and other materials. We will also be doing introductions and refreshers of school rules, policies, procedures and expectations. Official course lessons will begin straight away.

Please be sure to bring a set of headphones to school, which you can keep in your bag, as we will be doing regular listening activities on the computers.

Week 2: Sep. 3rd - Sep 7th, 2023   *reminder - please have a set of headphones with you in class every day*

Year 7: This week, students will be learning basic greetings and responses as well as numbers 1 - 20. They will also begin learning about the genders of nouns and classroom commands. We will begin working from the textbook and workbook, so please be sure to bring your books with you to class every day.

Year 8: This week, students will be revising present tense verbs, articles, negatives, and expressions of quantity. Students will also be learning about shops and what can be purchased in different types of stores. We will begin working from the textbook and workbook, so please be sure to bring your books with you to class every day.

Year 9: This week, students will be finding out about the French-speaking world and different francophone countries. We will also be revising the present tense of verbs and talking about technology. We will begin working from the textbook and workbook, so please be sure to bring your books with you to class every day.

Year 10: This week, students will be talking about themselves and expressing likes and dislikes. We will also be revising the present tense and exchanging personal information. We will begin working from the textbook and workbook, so please be sure to bring your books with you to class every day.

Year 11: This week, students will work on giving and exchanging personal information and talking about family members. We will be working on family relationships and learning adjectives to describe personalities. Students will also be working on creating a family tree to demonstrate their use of appropriate vocabulary and possessive adjectives.

Week 3: Sep. 10th - Sept 14th 2023 *reminder - please have a set of headphones with you in class every day*

Year 7: This week, students will be revising chapter 1 vocabulary, articles, and the gender of nouns. Students will have a short listening assessment in class on Monday, August 29th.

Year 8: This week, students will continue working with the theme of shopping, shops and groceries. Students will work on present tense verbs, expressing opinions and negative expressions. We will also be revising chapter 1 as students will have their first set of short assessments in class next week.

Year 9: This week, students will be talking about relationships with friends and family, using adjectives to describe people and personalities. They will also be learning how to use reflexive verbs in the present tense. Students are advised to begin revising chapter 1 in preparation for the chapter 1 assessments which will take place in class next week.

Year 10: This week, students will be focusing primarily on grammar and structures using verbs in the present tense, adjective agreement and talking about family relationships using reflexive verbs. Students will have their first short assessments in class next week. Please take the time to study the vocabulary and grammar from chapter 1.

Year 11: This week, students will work on forming and justifying opinions about character traits and friendships. Students will also focus on their writing skills to write short letters. At the end of the week, we will begin the topic of houses and describe rooms using vocabulary for furnishings and prepositions of place.

Week 4: Sept 17 - Sept 21 /2023     *reminder - please have a set of headphones with you in class every day*

Year 7: This week, students will be learning how to talk about themselves and family members. Students will also be learning possessive adjectives, reinforcing articles and learning the verbs avoir (to have) and etre (to be).

Year 8: This week, students will have their chapter 1 assessments: Sunday - revision, Monday - reading, Tuesday - writing, Wednesday - listening, Thursday - speaking.

Year 9: This week, students will have their chapter 1 assessments: Sunday - revision, Monday - reading, Tuesday - writing, Wednesday - listening, Thursday - speaking.

Year 10: This week, students will be completing and revising the vocabulary and grammatical structures from chapter 1 in preparation for their first assessments next week. Students are encouraged to use extra time in the evenings to practise their reading and writing skills by completing their class assignments if they have not already been done.

Year 11: This week, students will continue working on describing homes and rooms, using prepositions of place, and talking about household chores. Reminder to students to complete all of your google classroom assignments and turn them in on time.

Week 5: Sept 24 - Sept 28/2023     *reminder - please have a set of headphones with you in class every day*

Year 7: This week, students will be learning to talk about their home and their family. They will be learning prepositions and practising with the verbs etre and avoir.

Year 8: This week, students will be learning about Europe, and prepositions for cities, countries and continents. They will also be learning vocabulary for tourism and working on their reading and listening skills.

Year 9: This week, students will be learning about Paris, tourism, transportation and the perfect tense. This week's focus will be primarily on vocabulary and grammar.

Year 10: This week, students will have their first set of short assessments in class. Sunday: reading, Monday: writing, Tuesday: listening. On Thursday we will conduct a practise exercise with a past paper to introduce students to the format of IGCSE examination-style questions.

Year 11: This week, students will be discussing leisure activities, hobbies, and sports. Students will focus on speaking activities in small groups and whole-class discussions.

Week 6: Oct 01 - Oct 05/2023     *reminder - please have a set of headphones with you in class every day*

Year 7: Students will have two short quizzes in class. We will be using class time to review and revise key skills, vocabulary and grammar. 

Year 8: This week, students will continue working on their writing rubric development. Students will have the opportunity in class to catch up on late work. Students will then continue working on chapter 2 skills, using the future tense and talking about upcoming plans and events. 

Year 9: This week, students will complete chapter 2 and revise the perfect tense using etre and avoir. Students will have time to review key topics, vocabulary and grammar structures in preparation for their upcoming assessments in the next week. 

Year 10: This week, students will begin working on chapter 2 activities and discussing travel and tourism in and around Paris and France. Students will also create a tourist travel brochure project in French for visitors to Qatar. Please be reminded that the term 1 assessment schedule has been shared on google classroom.

Year 11: This week, students will complete unit 1 of study by talking about and discussing sports and leisure activities. Students will have a short reading assessment in class. 

Week 7: Oct 8 - Oct 12/203     *reminder - please have a set of headphones with you in class every day*

Year 7: Students will have a short listening quiz.  Throughout the week students will be working on chapter 4, learning about animals and pets, and learning to use adjectives to describe things around them. 

Year 8: This week, students will have a short writing assessment. We will have class time this week to revise and review the major vocabulary and grammar related to using the future tense. Students will also be working on writing strategies and evaluating writing using the rubric we collectively designed last week.

Year 9: This week, students will have two short chapter quizzes: writing and listening. Students will have time to revise the chapter 2 content and review study strategies.

Year 10: This week, students will have their term 1 short writing assessment.

Year 11: Students will have their term 1 short speaking assessment in class. Students will have this assessment one-on-one. The other classes this week will focus on discussing and speaking with each other to make plans for going out and planning activities.

Week 8: Oct 15 & Oct 19/2023     *reminder - please have a set of headphones with you in class every day*

This week, all student groups will be completing mid-term reflections on learning to share with parents. 

Week 9: Oct 29 - Nov 2/2023     *reminder - please have a set of headphones with you in class every day*

Year 7: This week students will be focusing on verb conjugation and grammar. Students will learn how to conjugate regular verbs in the present tense from all three verb groups. 

Year 8: This week students will complete their essay writing from before the break and learn about school in France, school subjects and work on expressing opinions about school.

Year 9: This week students will continue to revise the use of the perfect and imperfect past tenses and learn how to make comparisons between the past and the present.

Year 10: This week students will be learning about making visits with French families, vocabulary for things to pack and working on correcting grammar exercises completed before the break.

Year 11: This week, students will be learning about pronominal verbs and talking about daily routines and daily life in the present and past tenses.

Week 10: Nov 5 - Oct 9/2023     *reminder - please have a set of headphones with you in class every day*

Year 7: This week students will be finishing their unit about animals and adjectives. Students will be working on using masculine and feminine adjectives, revising vocabulary and creating an imaginary zoo project.

Year 8: This week students will be learning about school life in France, reflexive verbs and talking about their daily routines.

Year 9: This week students will be creating class presentations about their favourite book, movie, or tv show. They will also be working on their writing skills by writing a short biography about a famous person.

Year 10: Students will be finishing up chapter 3 this week and continuing to work on using past, present and future tenses. 

Year 11: This week, students will be working on vocabulary for food and drink as well as partitive articles to express "some". 

Week 37: June  - June 15/2023

Year 7 & 8: This week, students will be using games and videos in class to review key vocabulary and grammar concepts from the year.

Year 9 & 10: This week, students will be reviewing the IGCSE syllabus, learner guide, and past papers in preparation for the next academic year.

Week 36: June 11 - June 15/2023

Year 7: This week, students will have their chapter 10 quizzes in class.

Year 8 & Year 9: This week students will be working on projects in class and will be presenting these projects next week on Sunday & Monday. Year 9 students will also be beginning to look at the IGCSE syllabus and units for year 10.

Year 10:  Exam Leave.

Week 35: June 4 - June 8/2023

Year 7: This week, students will be completing chapter 10 about sports, hobbies, music and other leisure activities. Students will be focusing on their reading and writing skills to understand an write about their free time activities and things that they would like to do or have done recently. Students are reminded to bring their copy books and textbooks to class every day.

Year 8: This week students will be reviewing and completing revision work for units 3 & 4, students will need to bring their copy books and text books to class every day. Please make sure that chromebooks are charged when coming to class.

Year 9: This week students will be reviewing and completing revision work for units 3 & 4, students will need to bring their copy books and text books to class every day. Please make sure that chromebooks are charged when coming to class.

Week 34: May 28 - June 1/2023

Year 7: Students will be learning about sports, hobbies, music and other leisure activities. Students will be focusing on using verbs in the present and past tenses to talk about what they do or have recently done for fun. Students are reminded to bring their copy books and textbooks to class every day.

Year 8: This week students will be reviewing and completing revision work for units 1 & 2, students will need to bring their copy books and text books to class every day.

Year 9: This week students will be reviewing and completing revision work for units 1 & 2, students will need to bring their copy books and text books to class every day.

Year 10:  This is the last week of classes before the year 10 French final, on Monday, June 5th. Students will be revising vocabulary, writing strategies and practise writing essays in class.

Year 7: This week students will have lessons for revision and their chapter 9 short in-class quizzes.

Year 8: This week students will be revising basic vocabulary and skills and work on revision of this year's work.

Year 9: This week students will begin reviewing vocabulary, grammar and skills from this year.

Year 10:  This week students will be working on their writing skills using past paper essay questions. They will have their term 3 short writing assessment in class on Wednesday, May 24th.

Year 7: This week students will be working on a restaurant menu project and be discussing healthy eating. Students will be presenting their menus in class on Thursday, May 18th.

Year 8: This week students will have revision lessons and their chapter 8 short in-class quizzes.

Year 9: This week students will have their unit 8 assessments for reading, writing, and listening.

Year 10:  This week students will be working on their speaking skills through role plays from past exams. They will have their term 3 short speaking assessment in class on Wednesday, May 17th.

Year 7: This week students will continue working on chapter 9 and practise using French vocabulary and grammar related to French food and culture.

Year 8: This week students will continue working on unit 8, using the comparative and making plans to go out and do various activities around town. Next week, students will have their end-of-unit short assessments in class.

Year 9: This week students will complete chapter 8 and have their end-of-unit speaking assessment in class. Next week students will have their unit 8 assessments for reading, writing, and listening.

Year 10:  This week students will be working on their listening comprehension skills through past paper exercises. They will have their term 3 short listening assessment in class on Wednesday, May 10th.

Week 30: Apr 30 - May 4/2023    *Reminder: please bring your grammar exercise book & headphones to every class.

Year 7: This week students will continue working on grammar exercises and begin unit 9. Students will be learning about food, French cuisine and culture, and how to order food in restaurants. 

Year 8: This week students will begin working on unit 8 where they will be talking about making plans to go out to different activities with others, learning about acvitivies and events happening around town, and how to excuse themselves from meetings. 

Year 9: This week students will continue working on grammar exercises related to pronouns and prepositions, and they will start unit 8 where they will be learning about travel and discussing plans, intentions and sharing opinions about the future.

Year 10:  This week students will be working on their reading comprehension skills by using past papers and will have a short in-class reading assessment on Wednesday, May 3rd.

Week 29: Apr 16 - Apr 20/2023    *Reminder: please bring your grammar exercise book & headphones to every class.

Year 7: This week students will work on learning new grammatical structures and completing practise exercises in their workbooks and online. Students are encouraged to bring their copy books to take notes in class.

Year 10:  This week students will continue working on their writing skills by using past papers to compose essays and will further develop their grammar with practise exercises from the workbook.

Year 11: Students will begin their study leave this week. Over the leave students are strongly encouraged to review the learner guide and course syllabus (for vocabulary and grammar), which are posted on our Google classroom. I will be available to respond to students' questions by email up to the exam date.

Year 7: This week students will have their chapter 8 assessments for reading, writing, and speaking.

Year 8: This week students will have their chapter 7 assessments for listening, reading, and speaking.

Year 9: Students will have their chapter 7 assessments for reading, writing, and speaking this week.

Year 7: This week, students will be learning more about school, practise describing and giving opinions about their school and the classes they take and will be preparing and giving a presentation about EMS.

Year 8: This week, students will be learning more about how to express when they are not feeling well, visiting doctors and revising chapter 7 in preparation for their short assessments next week.

Year 9: Students will be learning about and discussing healthy lifestyles and medical concerns. They will be completing the work for chapter 7 and will have class time to revise and prepare for their short assessments next week.

Year 10:  This week, students will be working on responding to past paper essay prompts to improve their writing skills. They will also continue working on grammatical structures in the future tenses.

Year 11: This week, students will be working on developing their writing skills by using past paper essay prompts and preparing responses. Students will also continue working on grammar skills using the past and future tenses in French.

Week 26: Mar 26  - Mar 30/2023    *Reminder: please bring your grammar exercise book & headphones to every class.

Year 7: This week, students will be using time and possessive adjectives to describe their favourite activities to do during a day, they will also be learning about school subjects and how to express personal opinions about their school and what they are learning.

Year 8: This week, students will use the grammar that they learned last week to describe people and possessions. 

Year 9: Students will be learning about and discussing healthy lifestyles and medical concerns. They will be using the grammar constructs that they learned last week to complete the activities in the textbook.

Year 10:  This week, students will be able to respond to questions verbally, write connected sentences and working on using adjectives and nouns. Students will be expected to have their grammar exercise books and a copy book with them in class every day.

Year 11: This week, students will be revising speaking skills and they will have their IGCSE Speaking exam during school hours on Wednesday, March 29th and Thursday, March 30th. The assessment schedule has been posted to google classroom.

Week 25: Mar 19  - Mar 23/2023    *Reminder: please bring your grammar exercise book to every class.

Year 7: This week, students will be working on grammar, listening, and speaking exercises to learn how to tell the time and use possessive adjectives.

Year 8: This week, students will be working on grammar, listening, and reading exercises in class to learn how to use adjective agreement, expressions with "avoir" to describe physical conditions, and the imperative form.

Year 9: Students will be learning about how to use adverbs to add detail to their writing, as well as the imperative form to give instructions, the perfect tense with reflexive verbs to say what they have done, revise expressions with "avoir" and using expressions of time. The focus will be on grammar and sentence structure this week.

Year 10: & Year 11: This week, students will be working on developing their grammar skills through exercises and online activities. The foci for this week are on asking and answering questions, using the present tense of regular and irregular verbs, using reflexive verbs in the present tense, and understanding and using the imperative form.

TERM 3

Week 24: Mar 5  - Mar 9/2023    

This week, all students will be working on French projects and presentations. Students will be presenting their final work at the end of the week.

Year 7: Topic: My favourite holiday / activity - using adjectives and the present tense of verbs. Poster project

Year 8: Topic: My favourite holiday / activity - using adjectives, adverbs, the present and perfect tenses of verbs. Poster project

Year 9: Topic: French musical artists - mini biography writing and album cover art.

Year 10: Topic: Healthy eating & lifestyles / French cuisine - video or poster project. Using imperative statements.

Year 11: Topic: Advertisements for French brands - using adjectives, present and future tenses, and imperative statements.

This is the last week of term 2, next week will be off for term break. Classes will resume on Sunday, March 19th.

Year 7: This week, students will be completing revision of chapter 7 and having their unit quizzes in class. Monday: reading, Tuesday: writing, Wednesday: listening.

Year 8: Students will be completing revision exercises and have their chapter 6 quizzes in class. Monday: listening, Wednesday: reading, Thursday: Speaking.

Year 9: This week, students will be presenting their projects about protecting the environment. Students will also have their chapter 6 quizzes in class. Tuesday: writing, Wednesday: listening, Thursday: reading.

Year 10: Study leave / mock exams.

Week 22: Feb 19 - Feb 23/2023     *reminder - please have a set of headphones with you in class every day*

Year 7: This week, students will be learning about activities in town and work on describing their city and things to do. Students will also be learning how to make plans and talk about where they are going. We will be completing chapter 7 this week, so students are encouraged to begin revising vocabulary, verbs and sentence structure in preparation for assessments next week. Students are reminded to bring their textbook and their grammar exercise book to class every day in order to complete classwork while at school.

Year 8: Students will continue learning about the perfect tense and using both etre and avoir together to describe past events.  Students are reminded to bring their textbook and grammar workbook to class every day to ensure that they are prepared to learn. Next week students will have short assessments in class and should begin to revise the vocabulary and grammar from chapter 6.

Year 9: This week, students will be learning to talk about the natural environment, protecting the environment and sustainability. Students will be working in groups this week on presentations about environmental protection which will be presented next week. We are also completing chapter 6 this week and will have short in-class quizzes next week. Students should begin revising the vocabulary and grammar from chapter 6 well in advance so that they will be prepared for the assessments. Students are also reminded to be prepared for learning every day by having their chromebooks, textbooks and exercise books with them.

Week 21: Feb 12 - Feb 16/2023     *reminder - please have a set of headphones with you in class every day*

Year 7: This week, students will continue developing their vocabulary and learning to ask for and give directions to various places in town. Students will also be learning about irregular adjectives and prepositions of direction and space. Students are reminded to bring their textbook and their grammar exercise book to class every day in order to complete classwork while at school.

Year 8: Students will be learning about the perfect tense using the verb etre this week. This is an important tense to understand and use. Students are therefore reminded to bring their textbook and grammar workbook to class every day to ensure that they are prepared to learn as we will be doing a lot of practise in class.

Year 9: This week, students will be learning about French culture in Canada and learning more about travel and tourism. Students should be prepared for learning every day by having their chromebooks, textbooks and exercise books with them.

Year 10: Students have the lesson this week to revise the study guide, learner guide and complete a practise paper to prepare for their upcoming mock exam. Students will be on study leave from February 15th.

Week 20: Feb 5 - Feb 9/2023    *reminder - please have a set of headphones with you in class every day*

Year 7: This week, students will be having 2 end of chapter assessments in class and will have other lesson time for revision and practise. Sunday, Feb 5: chapter 6 reading test, Tuesday, Feb 7th: chapter 6 speaking test.

Year 8: This week, students will be having 2 end of chapter assessments in class and will have other lesson time for revision and practise. Monday, Feb 6: chapter 5 writing test, Wednesday, Feb 8th: chapter 5 reading test.

Year 9: This week, students will be having 2 end of chapter assessments in class and will have other lesson time for revision and practise. Sunday: presentations, Monday: chapter 5 writing test, Tuesday: presentations, Wednesday & Thursday: chapter 5 speaking tests.

Year 10: This week, students will be continuing to learn about food and cafes. We will be discussing healthy eating and using direct and indirect object pronouns. Work will be posted daily on google classroom.

Year 11: Students have their term 2 listening assessment in class on Sunday, February 5th. The rest of the week students will be learning about countries, nationalities and the weather. Work will be posted daily on google classroom.

Week 19: Jan 29 - Feb 2/2023     *reminder - please have a set of headphones with you in class every day*

Year 7: Students will continue working on chapter 6 this week and work more with regular present tense verbs. Students will also be discussing different activities according to the weather and the things they do on the weekends. We will be completing chapter 6 this week so students are advised to begin revising the vocabulary and grammar in preparation for their chapter assessments next week.

Year 8: Students will continue learning about food, cafes and restaurants. Students will focus on their speaking skills this week by conducting role-plays and presentations about food and placing orders.

Year 9: This week students will conclude chapter 5 by learning more about theme parks and talking about the future. Students are advised to begin revising the chapter summary in preparation for assessments which will take place next week in class.

Year 10: Students will be learning about meals and expressing preferences for food and beverages this week. They will also have their term 2 speaking assessment in class on Wednesday, February 1st. We will have a revision class prior to the assessment.

Year 11: Students have their term 2 writing assessment in class on Sunday, January 29th (rescheduled). The rest of the week students will continue learning about careers, part-time work and pocket money, and making plans for the future. Students will be working on understanding and writing letters of intent/applications for employment.

Week 18: Jan 22 - Jan 26/2023     *reminder - please have a set of headphones with you in class every day*

Year 7: This week students will be learning about seasons, the weather and climate. Students will also build their grammar skills by working with singular and plural verbs.

Year 8: Students will be learning about food, cafes, restaurant interactions and more about using the perfect tense this week. Students are reminded to have their computers, textbooks, grammar books and headphones with them for each class.

Year 9: This week students will begin chapter 5 and be learning about travel and tourism around France. Students will develop their communications skills through topics related to staying in hotels, touring and visiting attractions. Students will also be working more with the future tense. 

Year 10: The focus for this week is on grammatical structures, specifically pronouns and articles. Students will also have their term 2 listening assessment on Tuesday, January 24th.

Year 11: Students have their term 2 writing assessment in class on Sunday, January 22nd. The rest of the week students will continue learning about careers, part-time work and pocket money, and making plans for the future.

Week 17: Jan 15 - Jan 19/2023     *reminder - please have a set of headphones with you in class every day*

Year 7: This week students will have lesson time for revision and will be writing short assessments for chapter 5 on Tuesday (writing) and Thursday (listening).

Year 8: This week students will have lesson time for revision and will be writing short assessments for chapter 4 on Monday (writing) and Wednesday (listening).

Year 9: This week students will have lesson time for revision and will be writing short assessments for chapter 4 on Monday (listening) and Wednesday (reading).

Year 10: Students will finish their work and revision of chapter 5 this week and will have their term 2 short assessment for reading on Wednesday, January 18th.

Year 11: This week students will have time for revision and will have their term 2 speaking assessment on Tuesday, January 17th. Students will then work on learning about careers in French.

Week 16: Jan 8 - Jan 12/2023     *reminder - please have a set of headphones with you in class every day*

Year 7: This week's focus will be on learning about festivals, clothing and students will work on using singular and plural nouns and adjectives. Please make sure to bring your textbook and your grammar exercise book to class every day. This will be the last week of unit work. Students are strongly encouraged to begin revising the chapter 5 vocabulary and grammar from the textbook and workbook in preparation for their assessments taking place next week. 

Year 8: Students will continue working on chapter 4 this week. Students will be working on grammar skills to express the past using the perfect tense of regular verbs from all three groups. Please make sure to bring your textbook and your grammar exercise book to class every day.  This will be the last week of unit work. Students are strongly encouraged to begin revising the chapter 4 vocabulary and grammar from the textbook and workbook in preparation for their assessments taking place next week. 

Year 9: This week students will continue discussing different aspects of school life, expressing opinions and discussing preferences. Students will also be learning about a variety of careers and the gender of nouns. Please make sure to bring your textbook and your grammar exercise book to class every day.  This will be the last week of unit work. Students are strongly encouraged to begin revising the chapter 4 vocabulary and grammar from the textbook and workbook in preparation for their assessments taking place next week. 

Year 10: Students will continue discussing school this week by comparing school systems, discussing rules using expressions of obligation and discussing technology and the internet. A reminder to students: you will be having short assessments in class beginning next week (see the assessment schedule posted on google classroom), small study guides will be provided this week to use for revision. The revision guide for your mock exam is available on the school website on the "Examinations" page.

Year 11: This week, students will be using their previous discussions about school to talk about their studies and their plans for the future including post-secondary studies and careers. A reminder to students: you will be having short assessments in class beginning next week (see the assessment schedule posted on google classroom), small study guides will be provided this week to use for revision. Year 7: This week students will resume coursework by starting to work through unit 5 of the textbook and grammar exercise book. Students will be reviewing days of the week, months of the year and numbers up to 50. Students will also be learning how to express the date in a variety of contexts (birthdays, holidays, festivals etc.) 

Year 8: Students will be working on chapter 4 this week. Students will learn how to describe people and use a variety of adjectives. We will also revise the perfect tense with avoir and etre and expressions of past time to help students talk about the past. Please make sure to bring your textbook and your grammar exercise book to class every day.  

Year 9: This week students will be starting chapter 4. Students will be discussing various aspects of school life: subjects, routines, uniforms, rules and work on using a variety of tenses to explain what has, is and will happen. Please make sure to bring your textbook and your grammar exercise book to class every day.  

Year 10: This week students will be starting chapter 4. Students will be discussing various aspects of school life: subjects, routines, uniforms, rules and work on using a variety of tenses to explain what has, is and will happen. Students will also work on using a wide variety of adjectives to expand their descriptions by adding details as well as using expressions of obligation.

Year 11: Students will be discussing topics related to school life including: subjects, routines, expectations and more. Students will also work on using the future tense to describe their plans for study and careers in addition to expressing and justifying opinions about school.

TERM 2

Week 14: Nov 13 - Nov 17/ 2022

This week, all students will be presenting their completed projects in class. Students will focus on their speaking and presenting skills and work on being able to answer questions spontaneously.

A reminder that this is the last week of school before our extended break. I would like to thank all families for their ongoing support this term and encourage students to keep up their studies over the break. Enjoy the holidays!


Weeks 12 & 13: Oct 30 - Nov 10/ 2022

Over the next two weeks, all students will be working on summative projects to demonstrate their abilities to use French in a variety of contexts. Students will have their choice of project (family, routine, food, shopping, French countries, clothing) and will have class time to complete their projects. Students will be using their creativity and communication skills to complete their work.

All students should be prepared with drawing and colouring supplies in class every day.

Week 11: Oct 23 - Oct 27/2022     *reminder - please have a set of headphones with you in class every day*

Year 7: This week students will have two assessments: Chapter 4 reading, Sunday, October 23rd, and speaking on Tuesday, October 25th. Around those dates, students will be revising vocabulary and grammar as well as reviewing the topics taught so far in term 1. 

Year 8: Students will have two assessments this week: Chapter 3 reading on Tuesday, October 25th and speaking on Wednesday, October 26th. Prior to their assessments, students will have revision activities and study time allowed to prepare for the tests.

Year 9: This week students will be completing class presentations and preparing for their chapter assessments. They will have their chapter 3 reading assessment on Monday, October 24th and their speaking assessment, which will take place over two lessons on Wednesday, October 26th and Thursday, October 27th.

Year 10: Students will be revising chapter 3 vocabulary and grammar this week. They will also have activities to practise their listening skills in preparation for their term 1 listening assessment on Wednesday, October 26th.

Year 11: Students have their term 1 reading/writing final on Sunday, October 23rd. Following the assessment, students will work on learning about healthy eating habits and healthy lifestyles.
