The focus of this unit is on baking and yeast goods, pastry making and biscuits, cakes and slices. The technology process of investigating, designing, producing and evaluating will be continued. Activities include food production, food testing and food sampling as well as theory work.
This unit will allow students to:
Investigate and make judgements on how the principles of food safety, preparation, presentation and sensory preceptors influence the creation of food solutions.
Critique needs or opportunities to develop design briefs
Work flexibly to safely select, justify and use appropriate technologies and processes to make designed solutions.
Evaluate design ideas processes and solutions against comprehensive criteria for success.
Develop and manage project plans taking into consideration time, cost, risk and production processes.
Three assessment tasks that include a practical and theoretical component
Examination in Term 2 or 4
Students are required to bring a food storage container.
Students are able to select from three food subjects, but will only be able to be enrolled in a maximum of one food subjects in Year 10. A second one may be offered if there are places available.
