This unit focuses on the work of a designer in product design. Students will use manual and digital drawing methods throughout the design process to develop product concepts. They will also experiment with tools, materials, and processes to prototype physical product concepts before creating their innovative product.
This unit looks into the diverse needs of end users, exploring how inclusive product design solutions support belonging, access, useability and equity. Students will examine the social and or physical influence on design and formulate an end-user profile identifying specific needs and opportunities of the end user to make an inclusive product. Students will also explore cultural influence on design, developing an awareness of how Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples design and produce products. Students will also be able to connect to personal or other cultural heritage.
