Course Information Evening for 2025 is Wednesday 6th August. Subject information is current for 2026
Geography is the study of people and the Earth. It is about plants, animals, people, places and the relationships between these elements. In this subject you will investigate environmental geography. This means that you will learn about how the environment changes and the factors that influence this, such as pollution, and the management and sustainability of land and oceans. You will find out what communities and governments are doing to balance the environment, the economy and society. Further, you will investigate the geographies of human wellbeing. This means you will focus on understanding how places impact our wellbeing. The two units of study are Environmental Change and Management, and Geographies of Human Wellbeing: Environmental change and Management focuses on investigating environmental geography. It begins with an overview of environmental change and the factors that influence it. Students investigate specific regions in Australia. They examine the causes and consequences of the change and strategies to manage the change. Geographies of Human Wellbeing focuses on investigating global, national and local differences in human wellbeing between places. Students examine the different concepts and indicators of human wellbeing. They explore programs designed to reduce the gap between differences in wellbeing.
