This course focuses on the world of living things, from organisms as small as bacteria to animals as large as elephants. Students will investigate why there are many different species in our world and why some are so different and others are so similar. Students will study how both plant and animal cells obtain energy and nutrients. Students explore the role of DNA and genes in determining patterns of inheritance. Laboratory investigations will be conducted, emphasising the importance of good scientific research and laboratory skills. This will equip students with the necessary skills to scientifically question and undertake their own scientific research.
May include a range of tasks including, but not limited to, practical reports, analysis of second-hand data, media response and tests.
