Duration: One Semester
The primary focus of this unit is to create an ensemble performance which combines the arts of acting and movement (dance). This performance will provide opportunities for students to experience many roles within the Performing Arts, both in presentation and the technical elements. Students will participate in activities that assist them to analyse and evaluate performance and appreciate the role of theatre throughout history and in contemporary society.

Improvisation
Students will participate in workshops that encourage the understanding of improvisation.Performance Styles
Students will research and explore conventions of multiple performance styles.Stage Craft
Understanding of the elements required to stage a play. This includes the understanding of stage directions, sets and props, lighting, costumes and sound. Various occupations in the theatre industry will be explored.Ensemble Piece
The class will create and perform an ensemble piece to be presented as part of a performance evening.Review
Students will watch, analyse and evaluate performances.
