In this unit, students develop a broad understanding of the language and culture/s of Italian-speaking communities through the study of three or more topics which may include ‘rapporti in famiglia, tra gli amici e a scuola’ (family, friends and school relationships), ‘le tradizioni, gli spettacoli e le feste’ (traditions, events and celebrations) and ‘communicare nel mondo moderno’ (communication in the modern world).
Unit 1
Outcome 1 - May include a range of tasks including, but not limited to, a conversation, interview, role play or oral presentation.
Outcome 2 - May include a range of tasks including, but not limited to, film reviews, listening to a conversation to write directions or reading an article and listening to an announcement to write instructions.
Outcome 3 - May include a range of tasks including, but not limited to, a written presentation including images or creating an imaginative children’s story.

Unit 2
Outcome 1 - May include a range of tasks including, but not limited to, a personal answer to an email, an informative blog response or a written letter response.
Outcome 2 - May include a range of tasks including, but not limited to, describing experiences from different perspectives in writing, writing reflective articles or evaluating opposing arguments.
Outcome 3 - May include a range of tasks including, but not limited to, narrating a life story, event or incident, sharing a personal or reflective story or an oral presentation about an aspect of culture.
