Units 1 and 2 Focus on providing students with the mathematical knowledge, skills, understanding and dispositions to solve problems in real contexts for a range of workplace, personal, further learning, and community settings relevant to contemporary society. This course gives students a sound background to enable them to meet employment needs or further study in a non- science based tertiary study course.

Outcome 1:
Students will be able to define and apply concepts to routine problems correctly.
Outcome 2:
Students will be able to apply concepts and techniques to non-routine problems that investigative, modelling or problem-solving techniques. Students will also be able to analyse and discuss their findings.
Outcome 3:
Students will be able to apply computational thinking and use appropriate technology effectively to solve problems.
One important aspect is Mathematical Investigations in each unit.
