The personality of the month of December is Robert Dornhelm.
Robert Dornhelm (born December 17, 1947, in Timișoara, Romania) is an Austrian film and television director. In 1961 he emigrated from Timișoara to Austria together with his family. He currently lives in the USA.
In early 1990, he returned to Timișoara to make Requiem For Dominic (1991), a film about the Romanian Revolution and its impact on the city. It focused on the death of his former schoolmate, engineer Dominic Paraschiv, who was shot three times in the stomach by soldiers under the command of platoon leader Ödön Varga on December 24, 1989. The film was shot in Timișoara as well as in Vienna.
Robert Dornhelm has been an honorary citizen of Timișoara since 2014, and in 2019 the board of the Timișoara 2021 – European Capital of Culture Association appointed him ambassador of the city of Timișoara for this event.
