Visas & refunds
Participants may have been required to obtain visas to enter Kenya. For this and any airport transport expenses incurred, please bring
original receipts for reimbursement. We will reimburse visa fees at $50 and airport transport expenses incurred at $70.
Yellow fever
Please confirm the status of your yellow fever vaccination before you travel. It is advisable that you have your vaccination done at least 2 weeks before you travel and ensure that you carry your vaccination card with you. There will be no reimbursement for this.
Weather
It is currently sunny in Nairobi with daily average temperatures of 21 – 23 Degrees Celsius. We encourage you to check online for updated weather details.
Things to bring
Please remember to bring the following:
Hard copy of the signed contract
Copy of banking details
A pair of closed sturdy all weather shoes, casual clothes and a raincoat with cap for the field trip
Transportation from airport
On arrival at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, you will be met by a driver from BCD Travel who will take you to your accommodation; the Safari Park Hotel. (Look out for a board with your name & the CARTA Logo on it, as you exit the arrivals area)
Accommodation
Your accommodation has been reserved at the Safari Park Hotel (Kasarani off Thika Road, P.O Box 45038 – 00100, Nairobi, Kenya; Tel: +254 20 36333000 / 8562222; http://www.safaripark-hotel.com).
Meeting rooms
All sessions will take place at the Safari Park Hotel. This is the same venue of accommodation. The hotel reception staff will advise you on location of conference rooms.
Please bring an international electrical adapter for your computer and electrical gadgets. These can also be purchased from t he airport. You will be responsible for the cost.
Per diems
CARTA will provide Bed and Breakfast and lunches during weekdays. You will be given a per diem of USD 20 to cater for your lunches during weekends and USD 30 for your dinner daily. Please note that you will be responsible for any other bills you incur e.g. telephone calls, laundry etc.
Please note that the currency accepted for purchases in Kenya is the Kenya Shilling or in some cases the American Dollar.. However, you may wish to purchase Kenya Shillings before you arrive at the hotel.
