Oladapo O. Olayemi obtained his MBBS degree from the University of Ibadan, Ibadan, Nigeria, and his MPH degree from Johns Hopkins School of Public Health, Baltimore, MD, USA. He is a Fellow of the Faculty of Obstetrics and Gynaecology of West African College of Surgeons and of the Nigerian National Postgraduate Medical College in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. He became a Professor in 2008 in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, University of Ibadan. His primary research interest is feto-maternal medicine. He has authoured and co authored over 70 publications in this area since joining the faculty in 1999.
He was sub-dean of the faculty of clinical sciences between 2008 and 2010, he has chaired many scientific committee the most recent being the Nigerian Medical Association conference in Ibadan in 2011 and the SOGON conference also in Ibadan in 2011. He is currently the chairman of the University College Hospital Research Committee. Internationally he is the principal investigator in UCH of the World Maternal Antifibrinolytic (WOMAN) trial. He also serves on the Steering Committee for this trial.
