Dear Fellows
It has been very interesting to read your titles, aims and research questions. I very soon realized though that there were some comments that I should have to repeat to many of you. I therefore try to summarize some views in this message.
1. All fellows have to this stage worked very well and with high ambitions. Most of the information I received is well understandable even if I have had to put some question marks.
2. Research questions shall be tools in the research work. They shall therefore be as precise possible. This can be improved in many cases. How do you imagine your research work? Can you see that in your research questions?
3. Titles and aims are often quite long. Research questions are less so.
4. Writing the research questions you should look at every word carefully and ask yourself: what do I really mean using this word. There are some examples that I have not pointed to everywhere they appear: assess, evaluate, pattern, profiles, impact, determine. If you can't explain a word to yourself it is a problematic one.
5. Some of you have very wide ambitions and want to include many research questions. Just try to imagine how much time, in months, a research questions will need. Adding these you might end up with a very long time for your PhD studies.
The individual responses might be rather short and even seemingly negative. Please remember then that I think you are really overall doing a god job.
Good luck
Bo
