CARTA WORKSHOP ALLOWANCES
The following principles shall apply during all CARTA meetings and workshops:
Reimbursement will only be paid on presentation of original, legitimate receipts
Any deviation from set limits must be approved by the secretariat in advance
The following expenses will be to participants’ own account: any and all room service, meals eaten in restaurants, alcoholic beverages, drinks from mini-bars and any food or beverages not included in the meal plan
A maximum of US$70 only shall be refunded to each participant for return airport transfers and ground transportation in their home country. Prior approval from the CARTA secretariat must be sought for transfers and ground transportation in excess of the above amount. CARTA will provide airport transfers or payment for transfers in the country where the training is taking place
Travel insurance will be provided for each participant
CARTA will not refund the cost of excess luggage
CARTA will only refund the cost of standard single entry visas or its equivalent. Extended, special or other visa types must be approved by the CARTA secretariat before they are applied for, but in general, fellows will pay the difference.
Fellows attending JAS workshops
CARTA will arrange travel, accommodation and meals during JAS workshops.
The following allowances will be paid when fellows are required to purchase their own meals during the workshop: Breakfast: US$10; Lunch: US$20; Dinner: US$30.
Parents who are breastfeeding infants (1 year and under) can be accommodated if required. This has to be approved in advance. The workshop participant must be able to participate fully in CARTA activities and should plan to have childcare available which is to the parent’s account. CARTA will make a contribution of a maximum of $300 towards this in cases where no meals are provided to the child-minder and pro rata where all/some meals are provided.
