Chimaraoke Izugbara is a social anthropologist with research interests in gender, sexuality, and health. Currently, a research scientist and head of the Research Capacity Strengthening Unit at the African Population and Health Research Center (APHRC), Nairobi, Kenya, Chimaraoke has taught in universities in and outside Africa. An Honorary Associate Professor at the School of Public Health, University of Witwatersrand, South Africa as well as a Lecturer-at-Large of the University of Uyo, Nigeria, Chimaraoke is the author of over 80 scholarly papers. More recently, he has been conducting ethnographic research on practices of manliness and sexuality among slum men in Kenya.Â
