Do you like a challenge? Want to keep polishing your technology skills over the summer? Want a chance to win fabulous prizes for your classroom?
Then participate in our Summer PD Bingo!
The PDF to the right contains links to various online modules, instructional videos, and helpful articles that can help you integrate technology further into your classroom.
Make a copy or print one off, and keep track as you complete the challenges. When you are finished, email it to Gavin Lees at the Department of Technology (or send through in-district mail).
There will be two prize drawings for those with a line (in any direction) and one prize drawing for those with a blackout.
This information flyer has been sent to all schools to provide information to parents about the use, care, and maintenance of Chromebooks over the summer.
During this year's school closures, OSPI provided Auburn School District with additional Zoom licences to support video meetings with students. These licences expire during the summer, and this tool is not planned to be available for broad use with students next year. The district will continue to have a limited number of licenses to support specific program requirements.
After June 30th, the supported tool for virtual meetings will be Google Meet. Currently, about 8,000 students a week are engaged on Google Meets in ASD. More information on this program can be found on the Virtual Meetings page.
You can promote students writing complete sentences for Google Form answers by using response validation with Short or Long Answer questions.
With the end of the school year, you may be looking at doing some digital cleaning. You can unenroll yourself as a student from Google Classrooms or archive them if you are the owner. This will help clean up your Google Classroom dashboard.
Want to earn clock hours, verification hours, STEM hours, or just expand your knowledge of different tools or blended learning techniques? Check out our Online Modules!
We've had over 200 modules completed by ASD staff since the school closure started!
Elementary Teachers interested in getting started with Computer Science in their classroom are encouraged to sign-up for one of Code.org's virtual Summer PD Workshops.
These online courses last for six hours over the course of three days. They will introduce learners to the CS Fundamentals course and some of the cross-cutting themes that can be integrated into your classroom, even without technology.
Dates and times can be found below or on the flyer embedded to the right, along with further information and sign-up details.

Any staff members leaving the district this year are reminded that their email and Google accounts will be deactivated 7 days after their last day of employment.
To avoid losing any important content, there are two methods available to save your data:
Google Takeout - this creates zip files of all your content, which you can save to a USB thumb drive. Any Google documents will be converted to the MS Office equivalent.
Google Transfer - this copies the contents of your Google Drive to another Google account (e.g. a personal Gmail)
These options are also available to graduating seniors and transferring students.
You can now review any emails that may have been caught by our new spam filter's quarantine. If you are expecting an email and it doesn't arrive in either your inbox or your spam folder, check the quarantine. These are emails that Microsoft has flagged as possibly being malicious and won't let through without your approval.
DoT's own Jen Classen is leaving Auburn at the end of the school year, off to Penn State University to pursue her PhD in Education, with a focus on disaster preparation and management.
Jen has spent the last three years as the Secondary Technology Coach, working closely with teachers and schools to integrate technology into classrooms, and increase student learning. She has headed many innovative projects during her time in the department, and her creative ideas, quick thinking, and wry humor will be greatly missed.
Join us in wishing Jen all the best on her next adventure!
Thank you to the teachers who have been been piloting Actively Learn in Auburn. We have been approved to start a limited, 3-year contract to continue to support this deeper reading comprehension tool.
