In the three weeks since Auburn schools closed to the public, staff and students have made radical shifts in how they teach, learn, and support one another. Face-to-face meetings are now online, teachers are keeping in touch through text messaging, online classrooms are more prevalent than ever, and everyone is discovering new apps to engage, educate, and empower.
The week before spring break, Google Meets were averaging about 1,300 a day with over 37,000 participants total and Remind contacts were up to 350,000! Check out more of these incredible statistics on the Instructional Technology staff support page to see how technology use is changing and increasing across our district. You'll learn a bit about Cheyenne, WY, and San Antonio, TX, too!
ASD purchased premium licences for all staff to use the Email Notifications for Google Forms add-on.

Looking for a quick and easy way to share resources to your Google Classroom? Look no further than the Share to Chromebook Extension. The extension allows you to push web pages to any of your Classroom classes along with creating announcements and assignments without having to open another tab!
If your cell phone number is entered in Skyward, you may opt-in for text messages by texting YES or Y to 67587. You will now receive any School Messenger messages such as the district-wide messages from our Communications Department. Parents and students can also follow these instructions to receive messages - please encourage them to do so!
While in Restricted Mode, staff can still view all videos on YouTube. When you visit any video you will see a blue bar below stating the status of the video. Click the "approve" button below videos to open the video up to all ASD students.
Videos that are not approved may still be available for students. Staff are advised not to approve a video unless there is an instructional need to do so.
Many resources have been created to both support parents and district-wide content areas. As we transition to new learning online, the following sites can help you with content-based standards, online etiquette, student support, and accessing necessary resources:

While working remotely, you may be choosing to use your personal device to access your Auburn work accounts. It's important to remember that any and all emails, files, and browser information used by Auburn employees for work may be gathered during a request for information from the district.
When working remotely, you will want to be careful to keep your personal and Auburn accounts separated so personal data doesn't accidentally get associated with your work data. The easiest way to do this is to use an Auburn device only when accessing your Auburn accounts.
Technical support shifts due to remote learning have required our technicians to have a stronger connection directly to students and families. Our team of help desk technicians continues to support staff and students as they too are working from home.
For school-based staff, please work with your building's technology support staff who will work with DoT to resolve your issues. DoT staff will contact families directly if needed in follow up to service tickets. For other employees, emailing the helpdesk is the most effective way to alert us to your technical problems right now. (Photo: Tharor Va & Mathew Abenojar)
If staff and students are using Chromebooks to work remotely, these devices have no way to notify the user that their password has expired. (Note: users can still log-in to a Chromebook with an expired password.) If users find that they cannot access certain sites (e.g. IEPOnline), it may be that they need to reset their password.
The steps:
Log into outlook.office.com using your username@auburn.wednet.edu email account and current password.
Click on your user icon on the far top right corner of the Outlook Web App (OWA)
Click “My Account”
Click “Security & Privacy”
Click “Password | Change your password”
Enter your current password and fill in a new password where prompted and click “Submit”
If prompted to confirm password, fill in the new password again
A big shout-out to everyone in Auburn School District for how they have adapted to working remotely! The stats quoted above paint a clear picture of how quickly staff have changed their working methods to support our students and families.
In particular, the Instructional Technology Support Specialists have been fielding an unprecedented number of questions, and providing remote support to staff. With so many new tools and teaching methods developing, they have been invaluable in helping our teachers' success with online learning.
The Department of Technology would like to offer special thanks the high school Technology Support Specialists for not only assisting their students and staff, but assisting district technicians with supporting other levels in these unique times. TSSs Lori Lippert (AHS), Jessamyn Curtin (AM), and Toni Dudley (AR) are assisting in preparing for kindergarten distribution; Jessamyn and Toni staffed district distribution and service times at JPF.
