Affiliate Organizations
The Board may agree to an association with other state or national organizations, provided that the Board determines that:
The purposes and activities of these organizations are consistent with those of the Chapter; and
Systematic communication between the Chapter and those organizations, including the required exchange of views on policies and programs, is of value to the Association.
Associated organizations will not participate in the governance of the Chapter. Any services to be provided to an associated organization shall not be subsidized by the Association.
Western Planner -
Western Planner Resources Representative - APA Utah supports appointing a Western Planner Resources Representative. The Western Planner Resources (WPR) Representative shall be appointed by the Partners and Affiliates Committee Chair for a two-year term. The WPR Representative shall serve as a member of the Partners and Affiliates Committee; act as liaison betweenAPA Utah and the WPR Board to engender cooperation and collaboration that benefit both memberships; provide the Chapter Board with updates of WPR actions; inform the Chapter Board of WPR meetings, events and their attendance status; encourage and coordinate activities, programs, and/or conferences jointly sponsored by the Association and WPR.
Western Planner Resources Editorial Board Representative - APA Utah supports appointing a Western Planner Resources Editorial Board Representative. This representative shall serve as the representative to the Western Planner Resources Editorial Board. The WPR Editorial Board Representative shall serve as a member of the Communications Committee. They shall be responsible for review of articles and information for the WPR Journal, as well as solicitation of articles by APA Utah commissioners and professionals for publication in the WPR Journal.
CCM Provider Policy
APA Utah frequently partners with other organizations to provide Continuing Maintenance (CM) credits for professional development opportunities. These partnerships allow APA Utah to broaden access to high-quality educational events and offer our members a diverse range of opportunities to earn CM credits. Through these collaborations, APA Utah works with organizations that deliver relevant planning content, including conferences, workshops, and webinars, in alignment with our mission to support the ongoing growth and education of planning professionals.
CM Provider Selection Criteria
When determining whether a session qualifies for CM credits, APA Utah will consider the following:
Relevance to the Planning Profession:
The Professional Development Officer (PDO) and/or the PDO Committee will review the event to assess its value to our membership. Events must address topics that are directly related to the planning profession or professional development.
Documentation and Reporting:
Event organizers must agree to provide necessary documentation, including:
Event date, time, location, and agenda.
Titles, session descriptions, and biographies for all speakers and sessions.
Collaborative Opportunities:
Preference will be given to organizations that involve APA Utah in event planning to ensure the event aligns with APA Utah’s goals and educational standards.
Requirements for Providing CM Credits
In order to offer CM credits for an event, organizations must meet the following criteria:
Contact APA Utah:
Reach out to APA Utah no later than one month prior to the event.
Submit Required Materials:
Provide all materials needed for the review process, including event details and speaker information.
Agreement to Provide the Following:
Recognition and Promotion:
Acknowledge APA Utah as the provider of CM credits in all event promotional materials (e.g., brochures, flyers, websites).
Include the APA Utah logo in event communications to highlight our support for professional development.
Event Access:
Provide one or two complimentary registrations for APA Utah members.
Provide a table at the event for APA Utah representation, if feasible.
