The APA Utah Board is a working board composed of Directors and Officers who contribute their time, skills, and perspectives to further the Chapter’s mission. This appendix outlines the expectations for nominees, the nomination and selection process, and includes the profile form used to collect candidate information.
Must be an active APA Utah member at the time of nomination.
AICP certification is not required but is considered an asset.
Individuals from diverse geographic, sectoral, and demographic backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
Candidates can only run for one position at a time.
Nominations may be submitted by self or others during the annual call for nominations (typically in the summer).
The Nominating Task Force reviews all submissions and recommends a slate of candidates to the Board.
Voting is conducted electronically by the full membership.
Terms begin in January unless otherwise specified.
Serve a three-year term (unless filling a vacancy)
Attend and actively participate in monthly board meetings (mostly virtual)
Lead or actively support at least one committee and/ or initiative
Attend key APA Utah events (e.g., fall and spring conferences, board retreat, business meeting)
Uphold APA Utah’s Code of Ethics and Conflict of Interest policies

APA Utah participates in the APA National Consolidated Election process to ensure transparency, efficiency, and alignment with national governance practices.
The following outlines the anticipated timeline and requirements for the 2025 election cycle:
Key Dates:
March – Intention to Participate Form Due to APA
APA Utah must complete and submit the JotForm provided by APA National to confirm participation in the Consolidated Election.
April – Nominations Site Opens
Eligible Members may submit nominations for open APA Utah board positions.
May – Nominations Site Closes
No additional nominations will be accepted after this date.
August – Election Opens
Voting begins for all Members in good standing.
September – Election Closes
The voting period ends, and the results will be certified by APA National.
Participation Requirements:
APA Utah must complete the Intention to Participate Form by March.
APA National will manage the nominations and voting platform.
APA Utah will provide position descriptions, eligibility criteria, and confirm open seats in advance of the nomination window.
All elections will adhere to APA’s governance guidelines and procedures.
