Soror MarQuisia Johnson, Basileus
Greetings Sorors!
The "TENACIOUS" Tau Rho Omega chapter is definitely on the move! Our Programs are in full swing and our Chapter Activities are in full bloom. Kudos to all committee chairmen and co-chairmen for leading with creativity and executing with excellence to ensure that our chapter remains the premier chapter in the DFW Metroplex and beyond! Your hard work and dedication to the success of this chapter is greatly appreciated!
Please be sure to read ALL of your emails regarding chapter updates, invitations to chapter activities and events, and eblasts from the Corporate Office so that you are abreast of information. Several sorors are stating that they are unaware of what's going on when all of the information is at your fingertips and housed in Wild Apricot and/or the Looking Glass, as well as the GroupMe. We are very intentional about providing updated information through all of our official communications vehicles. And, as always, I am available if you have any questions or concerns.
Continue to pray for each other and love on one another. We are stronger together...especially now that we are back in-person. This week, I urge you to reach out to a soror that you haven't seen in a while via email, text or phone call and give them an encouraging word. Be safe and be blessed!

Target 4: The ARTS! hosted a movie night “Always a Bridesmaid” on Saturday, April 23rd with CELEBRITY actress, host, producer, AND writer, Soror Yvette Nicole Brown. We had 269 registered and 135 attended. The watch party audience was fired up about this movie and the chat was on fire with comments. Soror Yvette came to the watch party and did a live Q&A session with the audience. It was truly a great evening. Thank you to Sorors Chazlee Jackson, Stacy Thornton, and the ARTS! committee for a fantastic event.
#CAP in partnership with Target 3: Economic Legacy hosted another series of Financing College: Scholarships on Sunday, April 24th. Our very own Soror Carolyn Gilleylen was the presenter. We had 30 participants that attended the session and they learned how to locate, apply, and score the best scholarships. The participants walked away from this session with a wealth of knowledge. Thank you to Sorors Stephanie Scroggins, Carolyn Gilleylen, #CAP, and Economic Legacy committees for a great event.

“Vision of Excellence”
“Give, and it will be given to you. They will pour into your lap a good measure—pressed down, shaken together, and running over [with no space left for more]. For with the standard of measurement you use [when you do good to others], it will be measured to you in return.”- Luke 6:38 AM
Caring is Sharing!!!

Greetings Tenacious Tau Rho Omega Sorors,
I pray the April showers will bring you beautiful May flowers.
OUR STANDARDS
The Standards committee met on April 18, and we welcomed the members of the Strategic Planning committee. The decision was made to give the Strategic Planning committee members time to review all of the information prior to proceeding with the plan. The goal is to have the framework/rough draft of the plan by May and rollout in September or October.
Our mini-lesson on Chapter Operations is scheduled for May 14 at 10:00 AM. I hope you will join us.
Our first in-person activity will be at our Chapter Retreat in August. It is our hope that it is impactful, brings understanding, and reminds us that we have a sensational sisterhood.
As a friendly reminder on our journey to compliance, we are going to go…go slow…but, go. And, as we slowly go, there will be some type of teaching piece along the way, as needed.
OUR WOMEN OF PEARLS COMMUNITY ACTION FOUNDATION
On April 30th, we hosted our first TRO informational session/meeting in the form of a Sip and Chew entitled Foundations 101 and also rolled out the Signature Program. Hopefully, everyone enjoyed one of the recipes for tea and scones and found the information useful.
Shout out to Madam Basileus for beautifying the powerpoint presentation, to Soror Michelle Hill for the tea and scones recipes, and Soror Celeste Bucchan for designing the signature program logo. And, thanks to all who participated.
As a point of clarification, per WOP bylaws, we are only required to hold four meetings a year. What we are trying to accomplish in those meetings is to make them as informative and engaging as possible…the first being the basics of running a foundation and the signature program. I also briefly discussed what we do during the executive board meetings. The next meeting/informational session is scheduled for June. Stay tuned.
If there is a need to use the Foundation’s status, please reach out to a Board member. If your employer makes charitable contributions to nonprofits, please inquire about their willingness to donate.
