Soror MarQuisia Johnson, Basileus
Greetings Sorors,
To the Tenacious, Award-Winning sorors of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated Tau Rho Omega Chapter,
THANK YOU!
It has been my honor to serve as your 2022-2023 Basileus. Our chapter’s mantra during my administration was “Helping Others Pursue Excellence (H.O.P.E.)”. I am proud to say that over the past two years, we have enjoyed many successes as we spread HOPE through our communities. Your willingness to serve as we made major impacts on the lives of those that we serve has been remarkable.
My vision was to be an accessible and responsive leader, to encourage sisterly engagement, to strengthen our bond with Kappa Nu, to inspire new methods of efficiency and to enlarge our footprint of community service. Through our sister squads, we have developed and fostered lifelong relationships. We have taken full advantage of the resources that were available to ensure that communication within the chapter was effective and business was handled efficiently. We have built upon my vision and celebrated milestones along the way. Scholarships have been awarded, meals have been provided to our future leaders via our AKA CHIPP™️ program and we have served as a powerful voice to remind our families and friends of the importance of voting. Highlights of this administration included several virtual Bingo & movie events, Adopting a Highway, Mammograms and Mimosas, our annual Fit and Fabulous Health and Wellness Expo as well as our memorable 30th Chapter Anniversary Celebration. We celebrated our golden and silver sorors as well as celebrated the life of our beloved Ivy Beyond the Wall, Soror Aenna “Libby” Bowe. There were many other programs, leadership development activities and service projects that kept us busy.
JOB WELL DONE SORORS!
To Soror Nicole Harris...thank you for bringing Tau Rho Omega to award-winning status! Your leadership is unparalleled and I appreciate everything that you did for me during my illness and beyond.
To Soror Courtney Washington...thank you for your partnership with the Women of Pearls Community Action Foundation and for guiding us through a new strategic plan for the future.
To the 2022-2023 Executive Committee...thank you for trusting my vision and leading Tau Rho Omega out of the Pandemic.
To the sorors of Tau Rho Omega...thank you for loving me, encouraging me, correcting me, and respecting me as your Basileus to be the leader that Tau Rho Omega needed as we emerged from the Pandemic.
As we look forward to the advancements that we will continue to make under the leadership of our Basileus-Elect Soror LaToya Sloan-McGraw, I ask that you continue to focus on what binds us all. Those things are our love for our sorority, our love for each other and our love for the communities that depend upon us for support. I am excited to see how we continue to grow as a chapter. Take care of yourselves and each other and may God continue to bless each of you and your families. Always remember....
We Are One....We Are Tenacious....We Are Award-Winning....We Are Tau Rho Omega Chapter!
