Soror MarQuisia Johnson, Basileus
Welcome Back, Sorors!
Let's Make the Most of This Year! I hope you all had an enjoyable and relaxing summer, and that you're feeling re-energized for the journey ahead. As we reunite after this well-deserved break, I'd like to extend a warm welcome to every one of you.
Before we dive into the exciting events lined up for this month, I want to take a moment to express my heartfelt thanks to the sorors who made our recent Chapter Retreat an unforgettable experience. A special thanks to Soror Terri Clark, Chairman, Co-Chairman Soror Camillia Williams, and Chapter Retreat Committee for their outstanding leadership in organizing a phenomenal retreat.
Now, let's get ready to hit the ground running as we have an array of incredible events planned for September:
Celebrating Our 30th Anniversary:
This year marks a remarkable milestone as we proudly celebrate our 30th Anniversary! It's a testament to the dedication and passion of our charter members—the visionaries who laid the foundation for this award-winning chapter. Please mark your calendars for the 30th Anniversary Community Service Awards reception following the chapter meeting and the grand Anniversary Celebration on September 23rd.
The Zina Movement:
Join us in commemorating our beloved Zina's birthday—Stay tuned for special activities and initiatives that honor her legacy.
Reactivation Month:
September also marks the start of reactivation month, and our Reactivation Committee is excited and prepared to welcome back our inactive Oh' So Pretty sorors. Our sisterhood is stronger together, so let’s reclaim our precious pearls.

This is an opportunity for us to come together and engage in discussions that will shape our chapter's governance and future. Whether you're well-versed in our bylaws or looking to learn more, your participation is highly encouraged.
If you haven't already registered for the Bylaws Forum, please take a moment to do so by logging into Wild Apricot and completing your registration. Your involvement is essential, and we look forward to seeing you there.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October is an important time to highlight the impact of breast cancer on women, including the specific statistics related to Black women. Breast cancer affects people of all races and ethnicities, but disparities in both diagnosis and outcomes persist among different groups, including Black women. It's crucial to raise awareness and encourage early detection and preventive measures.
Our "Mammograms and Mimosas" event plays a vital role in encouraging Black women to prioritize their breast health by offering both information and access to screening services.
If you're interested in participating in the event, please click the link below to register.
Early detection through regular mammograms and proactive healthcare can make a significant difference in reducing breast cancer mortality rates among Black women and all women. Let's work together to raise awareness and support the fight against breast cancer.

Greetings Tenacious, Award-Winning Tau Rho Omega Sorors,
Welcome back! I hope you had a wonderful summer break.
OUR STANDARDS
During our Chapter Retreat, the Standards Committee engaged Sorors in a thought-provoking activity entitled Candid Conversations for the Culture: Part II. We designed this informational exercise to improve how we relate to others, to promote better understanding, to encourage more inclusion, and to foster positive communication. It is our sincere hope that the content raised awareness and reminded us that we have a sensational sisterhood.
The Manual of Standard Procedures was made available to everyone via Wild Apricot. At this time, the revisions are still a work in progress. As soon as all the bylaw revisions have been voted on by the body and the Standards Committee has reviewed and presented the MSP information, we should be able to vote soon. Slow, but go…it is a process. Please continue using the link below until further notice.
Manual of Standard Procedures Thoughts
The Technology Team provided an electronic copy of the Soror Code of Ethics via Wild Apricot. Now is a great time to familiarize yourself with its contents.
Lastly, the link below provides a few activities in response to the Strategic Plan. Yes, we hear you and are taking action.
