We are coming to the end of our Wabanaki Languages unit. This week we learned about the Wolastoqiyik (Maliseet) nation and learned different food words in the Wolastoqiyik language. We also learned about the Abènaki Nation and learned words for different family members in the Abènaki language. It has been a wonderful experience learning about different languages and cultures and learning about the Nations that are the history and the present of the place we now call Maine.
In math, Kindergarten is learning to read and write teen numbers, as well as working on counting to 100. First grade is learning to subtract 2 digit numbers, and 2nd grade is learning to subtract 3 digit numbers.
In reading this week we have continued to learn about characters and how they grow and change in a story or over a series of books.
In our writing this week, we started working on informational writing. We started the week by choosing a topic we knew a lot about, brainstormed different facts we could share about the topic, and then wrote those facts across multiple pages.
We began working on creating and labeling diagrams.
We had a wonderful Mother's Day Luncheon. It was wonderful to see so many of you!
