On Tuesday, we had a virtual visit with Acadia National Park! We learned all about the winter ecosystem of the park and how animals and trees survive in the winter. We learned that animals either migrate, hibernate, or have adaptations to survive the winter. It was a wonderful and interactive presentation and we had time for questions at the end!
In math, kindergarten is finishing up learning about addition and starting to work on subtraction! First grade is working on attributes of shapes and second grade is starting to work on subtraciton within 100.
We have our seeds for our garden and we are just waiting for new grow lights to arrive, before we start planting!
We have been learning all about plants while we learn about the structure of nonfiction texts, as we read! We have also started a How-To book on how to start a garden. We are using that to learn about adding details to our how-to books, labeling illustrations, and writing for the reader.
On Thursday, we started an experiment by soaking bean seeds and carrot seeds. We then placed them in a jar with cotton, so the seeds are visable on the side of the jar. We'll be making observations to watch and see if the seeds start to sprout!
