February Vacation: 2/16 - 2/22
We started the week by checking in on our seed experiment. Currently, we have no seeds sprouting!
We also started our garden this week! Everyone had 4 plants that they choose which seeds to plant. We have carrots, lettuce, tomatoes, sugar snap peas, green beans, sunflowers, basil, oregano, sage, and rosemary! Our plants are currently under grow lights. On Friday, we saw our first sprout of a sunflower! As they grow we will repot or plant in our inside garden we will make, using a water table.
In our writing this week, we all choose a How-To topic that we will work on writing, editiing and publishing. We started learning about introductions for our books and worked on those introductions this week.
For Maine Outdoor School we divided our time inside and outside, due to the very cold temperatures. We learned all about sound and how sound travels. We also learned how animals use the vibrations of sound. Outside, we played a game where we had to guide a partner, only using sound, through the trees! We finished our lesson with a beautiful story of snowflakes and how snow is formed.
We ended Friday with Friday free time and crafts with Ms. Louise!
