Friday, October 31- Halloween in the classroom
With Trunk or Treat the night before, we will not be having a Halloween party with goodies in the classroom. We WILL be spending a day full of Halloween fun, including pumpkin math, toasting pumpkin seeds, making pumpkin cookies, and reading many Halloween stories. Costumes are more than welcome for the day! (just make sure that if your child has a full body costume, they have extra clothes to change into, as costumes can be tricky at recess and often get uncomfortable during a full day).

OUR WEEK
This week in our community study, we learned about maps. We started with making maps of our bedrooms. We learned that all maps have a key to tell us what everything on the map is.
After reading about types of communities and community maps, we worked together to make a map of the school! We first walked the school to plan things out and then tried our hand as cartographers. When we completed our maps, we tested them out.
In writing this week, we looked through our work from the year and chose one special piece. We are going to take that piece of writing through the writing process and publish our final piece! We shared our choices with a friend to start telling more of our stories.
At Maine Outdoor School this week, we checked the changes of our class tree. We then compared the leaves with the clippings we took 2 weeks ago. We learned about the life cycle of a plant and played a fun game to remember the life cycle. We also learned about pollinators and how important they are!Â
