OUR WEEK
We almost finished our narrative pieces! We are finishing illustrating and then your author will bring their book home. Very exciting!
This week, we finished up end of trimester assessments. It is always fun to look back and see how much we have grown since the start of the year!
An amazing time was had by all on our community learning trip to The Christmas Tree Ranch. We learned about the ranch and how they cared for the trees. We searched for the perfect tree for our school and then counted the rings to see how old the tree was.
We then enjoyed hot chocolate, cookies, and candy canes by the fireplace! A big THANK YOU to Lee and Lisa for welcoming us!
We had a very fun trip to The Grand to see The Grinch!
Maine Outdoor School was a chilly one! We spent time outside looking for signs of how animals changed nature and how plants changed the area. Then we gathered some items and brought them inside to draw in a detailed way.
This week in our reading, we have been learning about the strategy of 'visualizing'. Readers visualize a story to help with comprehension. We have been practicing visualizing by visualizing objects, such as ice cream, crayons, and on Friday we all visualized a hat and drew what our hat looked like. It has been fun for us to experience that we all see things differently, based on our schema and our personalities.
On Friday afternoon, Ms. Louise brought a snowman ornament craft for us to do. Our ornaments are now hanging on our school tree!
