Optimal Learning Program Class Grade 11
Full Year/Semester/Quarter No Credit Awarded / Grade 11
Prerequisite: Current Psychoeducational Assessment
The Optimal Learning Program Class Grade 11 is a support service for students who require the attainment of academic skills to better perform in the educational setting. Small group (and mixed grade level) classroom instruction and cooperative learning activities that take place in the OLP Classrooms are incorporated within the student’s curriculum and course schedule.
Extended Course Description
This course takes place during specific blocks and meets regularly (3 times a week).
During OLP Class, students work on areas of identified weakness by utilizing their strengths and learning strategies, which are modeled, practiced and eventually generalized throughout all mainstream classroom settings.
Students work closely with the OLP Specialist and OLP Aide so that their performance in school is supported.
Students receive an Individual Learning Plan (ILP) and are provided accommodations that cater to their learning needs.
The OLP Specialist is in close collaboration with teachers to implement techniques.
Formal communication with parents takes place: 1) at the end of the year when the ILP is discussed and renewed for returning students, 2) during the year, when the ILP is introduced for newly enrolled students to OLP, 3) during Parent-Teacher Conferences.
Routine communication via phone calls, emails and meetings is established throughout the year as well.
