IB1 SL Mathematics AI: Applications and Interpretation

IB Diploma Students: See IB Policy

IB Diploma Course Students: Grade of C or above in Geometry Honors and Algebraic Topics, or B- in Standard Geometry, or C- and above in Algebra 2.

Description:

The IB Mathematics Applications and Interpretations SL course is a rigorous, well-paced IB course that focuses on topics that are often used in applications or mathematical modeling. This course includes topics such as Number and Algebra, Functions, Geometry & Trigonometry, Statistics & Probability, and Calculus. Throughout the course, students are encouraged to solve real-world problems, and to learn how to draw generalizations and conclusions through mathematical thinking. Throughout the course, students will be developing an appreciation for connecting theoretical mathematical concepts with their practical applications. They will furthermore, develop strong technology skills as this course makes extensive use of technology.

Note: This is the first part in a two year course sequence.

A Graphic Display calculator is required. CASIO CG series graphic display calculator will be used for class instruction and demonstration. Please check with the school before buying a graphing calculator.

Assessment: 

Tests/quizzes/exams/homework, mathematical exploration, in accordance with IBO practices
