Students will be involved in an array of musical content; ranging from music theory, music history, critical listening, and music composition. In this course, students will have opportunities to dive into intriguing content and learn more about the music they listen to on a daily basis through research, critical listening practice, and individual exploration. Students will build connections and form an understanding of how music reflects what is taking place in the world throughout moments in history. This course builds upon students’ previous experiences in K-5 elementary music and/or middle school music. Students will explore music with an open mind and an open ear. This is a non-performance-based course, there will not be a concert or performance put on by this class, as it is an offering that provides students an introduction to music and helps foster a true appreciation for this art form.
