Characteristics: Blooms may be deep pink to white in color, result in fluffy seed pods in the fall. Foliage will turn a bright yellow in the fall.
Habitat and Origin: Found in dry grasslands and woods, common in Prairie provinces.
Optimal Growing Conditions: Prefers sun to light shade, dry soil, can be exposed to conditions.
Edible Portions: None
Aboriginal Peoples Uses: Fluffy seed plumes can be burned on coals, the smoke inhaled to relieve headaches. May also be brewed as a tea to relieve stomach problems, diarrhea, and to induce abortion.
