Dawn and I have been working tirelessly to clean the gardens up now that spring has finally arrived in Edmonton. We removed the dead winter remnants to allow for new growths and I have to say the gardens are flourishing! With the exception of the east balcony that still remains quite barren (with a little TLC we are hopeful that it will come back to us) we have found a lot of new plants growing that are coming back from last year or are yet to be identified. We have also worked hard to plant several new plants in the downstairs sustainability garden which include new raspberry, cranberry, and Saskatoon berry bushes and several other edible plants that will hopefully be ready for our enjoyment later in the summer.
We have some exciting plans that will hopefully come to fruition in the near future. We are hoping to get a new shed in the down stairs sustainability garden that we will stock with lots of new garden supplies to help the garden flourish even more. We are also hoping to install a compost so that any dead plants from the garden can be recycled right back into the earth. A new map of the garden is also in the works and will hopefully be posted so that everyone can see exactly what is available in the garden for your enjoyment.
Please feel free to visit any of the three gardens! There are picnic benches at all locations so its the perfect spot to have a lunch break or to take your study materials. Also, feel free to let us know what you think of the garden so far.
