Statement of Purpose / Focus
Based on a sample of papers it is clear that we are not able to state our Statement of Purpose / Focus.
This means you needed to identify your Argument supporting the Federalist or Anti Federalists.
In addition, you needed to also include support for your Statement of Purpose / Focus.
Lastly, there needed to be a counter argument for the opposite side.
Organization
Based on the argument presented in your Statement of Purpose / Focus, the entire essay needed to maintain your Statement of Purpose / Focus.
This means in each paragraph information was related to your Statement of Purpose / Focus.
Also, paragraphs needed a smooth transition. This means paragraphs should begin with transition words. For example, First, Second, Third,
To begin with, Next, In addition to, Lastly, and In conclusion.
Elaboration of Evidence
Each body paragraph in the essay must provide Evidence from specific texts or documents and not your personal opinion.
Evidence from the documents should be in your own words (paraphrased) not copied from the document..
The source of the information must be cited (given credit by name) throughout the body of the paragraphs of the essay. For example, In document
A it stated....... From document B, the author states......... From Federalist Papers 47
Evidence needs to be thoroughly explained and it's relevance to your Statement of Purpose / Focus must also be explained.
Language of Vocabulary
The language throughout the essay reflects the author - an educated 8th Grade Student
Only proper academic language is acceptable
This means no slang, or quote text message language. You need to write the word out, for example, gov written out is government.
Also, you need to demonstrate an understanding of language appropriate for an 8th grade social studies student.
This means you need to use a variety of domain specific vocabulary (social studies terms) Federalist or Anti - Federalist.
Conventions
The entire essay should be written in final draft format on the second day.
This means attention should be paid to spelling, grammar, punctuation, and capitalization.
If errors are present in the essay and they interfere with the understanding of the essay, then points will be lost.
