6th Grade Physical Education Benchmarks
The following benchmarks will be assessed for 6th grade students
Dominant Hand Dribbling
Chest Pass
Bounce Pass
Underhand Serve
Cardiovascular Fitness – 10-minute continual jog/run.
Upper Body Strength and Endurance – Rt. Angle push-ups.
Activity Log – Kept one week to recognize the value of exercising regularly outside of the classroom for personal enjoyment and its fitness benefit. (With written evaluation)
Pre and post written test on the following personal/social concepts: Responsibility, sportsmanship, following directions, and best effort.
Other Items introduced and taught in the 6th grade.
Using simple combinations of locomotor skills to music.
Activities that develop and improve cardiovascular fitness.
Activities that develop flexibility in the upper body.
Learn to use corrective feedback to improve skill performance.
Learn and follow rules to at least one selected game.
Recognize activities that contribute to feeling good. (healthy)
Recognize the value of exercising regularly outside of class.
Activities that may be taught to meet the benchmarks and other items are basketball, volleyball, health-related fitness activities, soccer, softball, pickleball, rhythmic activities, a wide variety of individual and team challenges, and table tennis.

Motor Skills Students will demonstrate appropriate technique in the following motor
skills.
Basketball
Dominant Hand Dribbling
Chest Pass
Bounce Pass

Fitness Students will show improvement from pre to post-test in the following Fitness
Components:
Cardiovascular Fitness – 10-minute continual jog/run.
