Game: One, Monday, Feb 6, 2017, Home - Geisler Middle School win 33-0
The 7th grade Girls Basketball Team defeated the Wolves from Geisler Middle School 33 - 0. The team played tremendous help side man to man defense. Meghan Oliver and Mary Liess lead the team with 5 steals apiece. Aspen Elgert, Paeton Cousino, and Marisa Mazoway lead the team in rebounding with 5 a piece, too. Morgan Forbis lead the team in scoring with 8 points. Tessa Hewitson, Gabby Avita, and Marisa Mazoway scored 4 point a piece, Delaney Muncy scored 3, and Mia Lanni, Mary Liess, Alyssa Darakdjian, and Paeton Cousino all scored 2 points a piece.
Game Two, Wednesday, Feb 8, 2017, Home - Mason Middle School win 32-13
The 7th grade Girl's Basketball Team increased their record to 2 - 0 with a 32 - 13 win over Mason Middle School. Leading the way with 7 rebounds apiece were Morgan Forbis and Paeton Cousino. Meghan Oliver had 7 steals to lead the defense. Paeton Cousino lead all scoring with 8 points. Mary Liess chipped in 6 points. Gabby Avita and Meghan Oliver scored 4 point apiece, while Delaney Muncy, Morgan Forbis, Mary Krause, and Marisa Mazoway scored 2 points a piece.
Game: Three, Monday, Feb 13, 2017, Away - Sarah Banks Middle School win 16-14
The 7th grade Girl's basketball team improved their record to 3-0 by beating the Banks Bulldogs 16-14. Leading the way in rebounds were Marissa Mazoway with 10 and Tessa Hewitson with 8. The defensive for the trojans was led by Mia Lanni with 4 steals and Katrina Scott with 3 steals. On the offensive side of the ball Morgan Forbis scored 4 points, while Mia Lanni, Delaney Muncy, Meghan Oliver, Mary Liess, Tessa Hewitson and Marissa Mazoway contributed 2 points a piece. Paeton Cousino chipped in one point via a free throw.
Game: Four, Wednesday, Feb 15, 2017, Away - Pierce Middle School win 19-2
The 7th grade Girls basketball team improved their record to 4-0 by playing tenacious defense by the score of 19-2 over Pierce Middle School. Aspen Elgert lead the team in rebounding with 4. Katrina Scott had 4 steals, too. Paeton Cousino scored 5 points to lead the scoring. Mia Lanni, Tessa Hewitson, Gabby Avita each scored 4 points apiece and Meghan Oliver chipped in 2 points.
Game: Five, Wednesday, Feb 22, 2017, Away - White Lake Middle School Lost 15 - 14
The 7th grade girls fought valiantly against the White Lake Warriors, but ended up losing 15-14 in a close game that went down to the wire. The girls had ten steals in the game with Mary Leiss, and Delaney Muncy stealing the ball three times a piece. Tessa Hewitson led the team with nine rebounds while Paeton Cousino grabbing eight rebounds and scored six points. Also scoring for the Trojans were Mary Krause, Morgan Forbis, Mary Leiss, and Mia Linna all scoring two points a piece.
Game: Six, Tuesday, Feb 28, 2017, Home - Muir Middle School Lost 17 - 14
The 7th grade girls basketball team gave their all, but lost to the Muir Colts 17-14 last night. On the defensive side of the ball Tessa Hewitson led the team in steals with 5, while Meghan Oliver stole the ball 4 times. Crashing the boards for the Trojans were Paeton Cousino with 6 rebounds and Marissa Mazoway with 5 rebounds. Scoring for Smart were Paeton Cousino with 5 points, Mary Leiss and Marisa Mazoway with 3 points as well as Meghan Oliver with 2 points. Mary Krause added 1 point by making a free throw.
Game: Seven, Wednesday, March 1, 2017, Away - Oak Valley Middle School win 16-14
The 7th grade girls basketball team improved their record to 5-2 by beating the Oak Valley Hornets 16-14 yesterday. CHS took the early lead in the first half due to solid defense by Abi Auten, Delaney Muncy, Sophia Altounian, Aspen Elgert, Marissa Mazoway, Norah Besmar, and Alyssa Darakjian. Scoring for the Smart were Paeton Cousino with 5 points and Tessa Hewitson with 4 points. Also scoring for the Trojans were Morgan Forbis, Mary Leiss and Mary Krause with 2 points a piece. Gabby Avitia and Mia Lanni each added a point.
Game: Eight, Wednesday, March 8, 2017, Home - Walnut Creek Middle School win 22- 10
The 7th grade girls basketball beat the Walnut Creek Hawks 22-10 to improve their record to 6-2. Defensively the Lady Trojans grabbed 39 rebounds, and stole the ball 27 times in one of our best defensive performances of the year. Scoring for the Trojans were Paeton Cousino with 7 points, Tessa Hewitson with 6 points, and Mia Lanni with 4 points. Also scoring for Smart were Meghan Oliver with 3 points and Alyssa Darakjian with 2 points.
Game: Nine, Monday, March 13, 2017, Away - Geisler Middle School win 36 -11
The 7th grade girls basketball team took the lead early and never looked back in their win over Geisler Middle School 36-11. Good Defense was played by Aspen Elgert, Abi Auten, Sophia Altounian, and Meghan Oliver led to many offensive possessions for CHS. Scoring for the Trojans were Tessa Hewitson with 12 points, Paeton Cousino, Delaney Muncy and Mary Liess with 6 as well as Gabby Avitia with 4 points. Also scoring for Smart was Marissa Mazoway with 2 points.
Game: Ten, Wednesday, March 15, 2017, Away - Walnut Creek Middle School win 28-22
The 7th Grade Girl's Basketball Team defeated The Hawks of Walnut Creek Middle School by the score of 28-22 to capture the outright Walled Lake Middle School City Championship for the 2017 season with a record of 8 wins 2 losses. Tessa Hewitson, and Paeton Cousino lead the team in rebounding with 7 apiece. Meghan Oliver had 6 steals to lead the defense. Mary Liess, Mary Krause, and Tessa Hewitson lead the scoring with 6 point each. Mia Lanni, Meghan Oliver, Gabby Avita, Paeton Cousino, and Sophia Altounian all scored 2 points each. Coach Singelyn.
