Dear Eighth Grade Parents,
Hello! My name is Mr. James M. Singelyn and I will be your child's Physical Education teacher at Smart Middle School. I am very happy that your child is in my class, and I look forward to working with him or her. Students will be coming to class every day for one semester.
Did you know that the average child gets less than 15 minutes of vigorous activity a day? This is not enough for building optimum health. Our goal in Physical Education at Smart Middle School revolves around teaching our children not only proper fitness habits and how to correctly move, but hope to direct them toward activities that will inspire them for a lifetime of active movement.
On the attached pages you will find our class requirements, benchmarks, and information on how grades are earned. In order to guarantee each child in our class the excellent educational climate they deserve, we will not tolerate student behavior interfering with the teaching and learning process. Following is the procedure we use when a problem arises:
Step 1: The teacher will talk with the student and help find ways to solve the problem.
Step 2: If the problem persists, the student will follow the Responsibility Program
Procedures.
Step 3: The teacher will contact the parent.
Step 4: A meeting with the parent may be requested.
It is in your child’s best interest that we work together. We will try to keep you informed about your child’s progress in our class. Please keep me informed on ways in which we can better help your child. You may contact me whenever any question or problem arises. Please email me at JamesSingelyn@wlcsd.org.
Thank you for your support!
Mr. James M. Singelyn
