Animation Voice Over

Walt be thoughtful about links between oral (spoken), written, and visual language to give purpose to our writing.

Instructions

How is your animation looking? Have you thought about what you are going to include in your voice over?

During writing this week, you are going to work on creating a write-up for your animation which you will then be able to turn into your voice over.

Once finished, add your animation write-up to your blog, along with a screenshot from your animation.

Remember:

-Use correct punctuation (full stops, capital letters, etc).

Can He Save Her? - Narrative Writing

WALT: write a narrative that is descriptive (paints a picture in the reader's mind)

Instructions:

You will need to watch a video with your teacher to explain what narrative writing is and then as a class we will go through each of the elements of a narrative. You can then use this to help you when you need to create your own narrative.

Paints the picture in the reader's mind - Don't just tell the reader exactly what is happening at every moment of time. Paint the picture for them, use your senses (smell, sight, taste, touch and hearing). Don't just use words like AND THEN, make it exciting for the reader. Get them to imagine what is happening in their own minds.

Can He Save Her? This week we are creating a piece of narrative writing about a comic book hero! You will need to watch some videos with your teacher about SpiderMan saving the day to give you some ideas for your own writing. You will then need to brainstorm your ideas and create your own narrative called Can He Save Her?

Whats for dinner?

This week you will be writing a creative piece about what you will be cooking for dinner.

Setting the Scene - So it is getting close to dinner time when all of a sudden you get a knock on your door! It is Pete and Manu from MRK New Zealand. They have come to join you for dinner. You have to create them three dishes to WOW them! You will need to create a starter, a main and a dessert what will you cook?

Lesson - Watch the video with your teacher and find out what Pete and Manu like to eat and what they will expect from you. You will then need to brainstorm what you will cook, the ingredients you will use and then create your own creative piece of writing about how the night and your cooking went.

Swimming Lessons - Recount Writing

Walt: to be able to write a recount about our swimming lessons

Walt: to take information from our lessons and put this in a recount

Instructions:

For the last three weeks we have being going swimming during our maths classes and have learnt some swimming skills and some important water safety lessons. For writing this week we are going to do a recount about those swimming lessons and what we have learnt. First you will need to watch the two videos which show some water safety skills that we have learnt at swimming. You will then have the opportunity to read about some of the water safety skills and techniques on the Swimming New Zealand website. From this information and your own experiences from the swimming pools you will write a recount about your lessons. Remember to plan first and then write at the bottom, you will need to finish this and have it on your blog by the end of the week!

Fast Finishers - Make a slide presentation from your recount template and put this on your blog instead of your recount template.

Newspaper Article - Sky Tower Stair Climb

Walt: to be able to write an factual article

Walt: to take information and put it into our writing

Instructions:

On Saturday Miss Parrant's cousin completed the Sky Tower Stair Climb! We are going to use the information from her climb to create a newspaper article about the event. This event has been running since 2005 and raises money for leukaemia and blood cancer New Zealand. You will watch the video about this event with Miss Parrant. As a class we will get all of the important information about the event. You will then need to listen to Miss Parrant's recount of her cousins climb and add this to your information. Then you will use the writing template to complete your writing.

Proofread - Our focus this term is to proof read our work, this means rereading it yourself, getting a buddy to read it and then showing Miss Parrant. Before you put it on your blog you will need to make sure it has been proofread!

Creative Writing - Fairy Tale Retake

Walt: to be able to write a using creative language

Walt: to be able to use an existing story and put our own spin on it

Instructions:

This week we will be taking a classic fairy tale and making it our own! We will be using the ideas from "Goldilocks and the three bears" and making it our own. We will not be retelling the story in the traditional way you will need to create it with your own new ideas on how you think the story will go. You will read "My Parody of Little Red Riding Hood" with your teacher to see an example of another students take on little red riding hood. You will then watch Goldilocks and the Three Bears with your teacher. You will then have a go at writing your own Goldilocks and the Three Bears. You will need to use creative language in this piece of writing.

Instructions:

Welcome back to Term 2!

This term our focus is Now that's thinking! Our focus this term is on how Maori technology has changed over time and what it looks like today. This focus will also look at some Maori technology that hasn't changed and is still used today!

Watch the video from assembly again with your teacher.

We will then discuss some of the ways we know technology has changed over time from what we have had before to what we have now.

You will then need to create a piece of writing for your blog which will include what our topic if for the term, what you think we might look at and what you want to look at.
