Can He Save Her? - Narrative Writing
WALT: write a narrative that is descriptive (paints a picture in the reader's mind)

Teacher Notes

You will need to watch a video with your teacher to explain what narrative writing is and then as a class we will go through each of the elements of a narrative. You can then use this to help you when you need to create your own narrative.

Paints the picture in the reader's mind - Don't just tell the reader exactly what is happening at every moment of time. Paint the picture for them, use your senses (smell, sight, taste, touch and hearing). Don't just use words like AND THEN, make it exciting for the reader. Get them to imagine what is happening in their own minds.

Can He Save Her? This week we are creating a piece of narrative writing about a comic book hero! You will need to watch some videos with your teacher about SpiderMan saving the day to give you some ideas for your own writing. You will then need to brainstorm your ideas and create your own narrative called Can He Save Her?

Walt: to take information from our lessons and put this in a recount

Teacher Notes

For the last three weeks we have being going swimming during our maths classes and have learnt some swimming skills and some important water safety lessons. For writing this week we are going to do a recount about those swimming lessons and what we have learnt. First you will need to watch the two videos which show some water safety skills that we have learnt at swimming. You will then have the opportunity to read about some of the water safety skills and techniques on the Swimming New Zealand website. From this information and your own experiences from the swimming pools you will write a recount about your lessons. Remember to plan first and then write at the bottom, you will need to finish this and have it on your blog by the end of the week!
Fast Finishers - Make a slide presentation from your recount template and put this on your blog instead of your recount template.
