Creative writing - I'm a bird!

Walt: make connections between spoken, written and visual language.

Walt: choose words carefully for our reader.

Most important: Animations. Record your voice-over if you haven't! You can do this in Creative Space at lunchtime too.

Instructions:

We have been reading and learning about birds this term. Now, we are going to listen to a story in which you imagine you are a bird!

After listening to the story, it is time to complete your writing tasks.

When you have finished, share the tasks on your blog:

Task 1: take a screenshot and post the image in a new blog post

Task 2: copy and paste the text from the doc into a new blog post

Animation - Voice Over

Walt: make connections between spoken, written and visual language.

Walt: use correct sentence punctuation.

Instructions:

How is your animation looking? Have you thought about what you are going to say in your voice over?

During writing this week, you are going to work on creating a script for your animation. You will be able to turn this script into your voice over.

Remember to include:

- A short retelling of what happens in the myth/legend

- Adjectives to make your writing interesting.

- Links to the environment and 'Te Taiao o Tāmaki'

Read your script carefully to check that it makes sense. Read it again to check your punctuation (capital letters, full stops, question marks).

Finished? Share your animation script on your blog with a screenshot from your animation.

Camp! - Year 5&6 Camp

Walt: write about our experiences on camp.

Google Presentation

Instructions:

How cool was camp?

Writing template

Have a good discussion with your group and your teacher as you think about your highlights from camp.

Camp was an awesome time, and it would be really awesome to share those experiences on our blog. It would also be nice to have them there for next year.

After you have written about your amazing experiences, take time to read your writing again. Does it make sense? What about punctuation? Does every sentence have a full stop and capital letter?

Here are some words to help with your writing.

If you have finished your camp recount, you have a choice:

Choice 1: Write a thank-you letter to Mr Burt for creating such an amazing

Year 5-6 camp. Create a doc and move to your writing folder.

Choice 2: Create a presentation to share your writing in a different way for your

audience. Look at Noah's example to give you an idea how you might

want to do this.

Check out Noah's camp experience from last year
