Animation - Voice Over
Walt: make connections between spoken, written and visual language.
Walt: use correct sentence punctuation.
Instructions:
How is your animation looking? Have you thought about what you are going to say in your voice over?
During writing this week, you are going to work on creating a script for your animation. You will be able to turn this script into your voice over.
Remember to include:
- An explanation about your chosen technology and how
it has changed over time.
- What might it look like in future?
- Adjectives to make your writing interesting.
Read your script carefully to check that it makes sense. Read it again to check your punctuation (capital letters, full stops, question marks).
Finished? Share your animation script on your blog with a screenshot from your animation.

Once upon a time ...
Walt: tell a story about our chosen character using interesting sentences.
Instructions:
You have thought about yourself and told your story through your mihi. Now it is time to think about creating a story of your own to tell others.
Some stories have been passed down over time as myths, legends and fairy tales. We read mystery stories, science fiction stories and, sometimes, horror stories. Whatever kind of story, there is always a problem to be sorted out by a main character.
What kind of story will you tell?
We will talk about our template together. Read your story to a buddy. Share to your blog. Labels: 2017, Writing, narratives, once upon a time.
How do we choose interesting words to add to our writing? Let's do some activities to help us!

About me - My mihi
Walt: make connections between oral and written language.
Instructions:
Welcome to Term 2! This term is all about thinking! What is technology? How has technology changed our lives over time? How do we use technology to communicate? Back in the day, how did people find out who was who, and what was happening?
Well, Māori traditionally share the history of who they are, their whānau and their tūpuna by saying a mihi or pepeha.
This week, we are going to share our history through our mihi. You can either create your Year 5 mihi or your formal mihi:
1. Choose the writing template for the mihi you want to create.
2. Who are you and where do you come from? Have a chat to your family.
3. Share your history by writing your mihi in English, Māori and, if you want, your
first language.
4. Practise reading your mihi to a buddy. Can you remember it off-by-heart?
5. Either:
a. Create a drawing to share your mihi using your photo and your writing.
Check out the example. Share your drawing on your blog; or
b. Record a screencast of yourself saying your mihi. Share to your blog.
