Fortune Cookies Illustration
For this lesson, you will work as an illustrator who uses digital media to create a picture to go with words - which can be in a book, magazine, advertisement or online.
PROJECT GOALS:
1. Make a illustration for a fortune cookie saying found on the internet. You must communicate through an image what the words say.
2. Your illustration must show WHO (people), WHAT (action) and WHERE (setting).
2. It is a digital collage made from several images found on the internet that shows both the written words of the saying and a visual image to go with it.
IN PHOTOSHOP:
- Know your tools! You are familiar with the MOVE tool, and the POLYGONAL LASSO tool. This project uses it a bit differently - to cut out carefully along the edges of a person or object.
- We will learn about the MAGIC WAND tool. This is used to select SIMILAR pixels - in color and value. So if you click on a gray pixel, then you can find all the gray pixels that look like the one you clicked on.
- We will also learn about the MAGNETIC LASSO tool. This is used when the edges of an object are contrasting with the background - like a black object on a white background.
- You will also learn how to make a SHADOW and make an object look like it is behind something else.
- Last, you will learn about the TEXT tool, in order to put the writing into your illustration.
