Torn Paper Collages

Your Art Research project will include a portrait collage created using torn paper. Follow the directions to find a self-portrait or photograph of an artist whom you are researching and admire for their artwork or their life to use for your torn paper collage. The image you find must be high resolution so that the face can be blown up to a 7.5 x 10 size and printed.

2. Use Google to find a image of the artist to use as reference for your Torn Paper portrait.

3. It must be mostly the face! Tiny details will be difficult to create with torn papers.

4. Make sure that the image is a high resolution, in case you need to crop it in closer and enlarge it. You can make sure of this by clicking on LARGE on the lower left column under "Any Size".

5. Save images to your H:// drive as you find them by right clicking on the image and changing the drive to your H://--save as JPEG file. DO NOT SAVE IT ON THE DESKTOP!

6. Once you have everything you need, open Word, and insert picture from file. Once it is inserted, click on the image to bring up the picture toolbar. Click on the small picture of the DOG, and choose TIGHT for layout.

7. Change the Margins in Page Setup to .5 all around. Grab a corner handle (NOT the middle handles!) to enlarge the image so that it is 7.5" x 10". Type your name at the top!

8. Last Step! Save the Word Document on the SCOMMON Drive in the Petricone Folder, then in the Torn Paper Collages Folder.

9. Print to the COLOR printer.
