Step 1 - Perspective

We have discovered that artists show Space in a work of art by using Perspective: Overlapping objects, changing size, and changing color and value to make things lighter and grayer as they go into the distance.

  1. Travel to the Birmingham Museum to learn more about how an artist creates Space in a painting using Perspective. Make sure you check out HORIZON LINE, AERIAL PERSPECTIVE, and LINEAR PERSPECTIVE.
  2. Now, look at Arts Connected for a small video definition of both PERSPECTIVES. Wear your headphones!
  3. Your finished landscape must use one of the perspectives, AERIAL or LINEAR, and have three layers of land.
