The Assignment:
Every four weeks, your group will create a video newscast that features the most important stories from around the world from that month. Each Monday in Humanities, you will spend some time researching and curating stories and events that might appear in your newscast.
Researching & Curating:
Get a new Newscast Group CURATION Template
Your group must decide which stories from the month are "important" and worthy of reporting. We suggest you create a group Google Doc to post links and other information that can be used at the end of the month to create the newscast. Consider categorizing the stories based on their subject matter (i.e. world, local, economy, sports, entertainment, politics, etc.).
Writing, Recording & Casting:
Get a new Newscast SCRIPT Template
Consider giving each group member a specific role in the newscast (i.e. anchors, reporters, etc.). You should creatively work in commentary and analysis of stories and events. Your final video each month should be a few minutes long.
Filming: You can record your videos in a few different ways. You can use a smartphone, iPod, or some other video recording device. Or, you can use the Chrome app Clipchamp to access your Chromebook's webcam for recording. Both options easily share to Drive and YouTube.
Editing: YouTube Editor is a great tool for editing videos and adding effects. There are many built-in tools for making your video look more like a professional production.
