Unit Overview

Theme: 

 As the United States expands and grew the pressing slavery issue was pushed to the forefront.  Should slavery expand along with the expanding nation?

Essential Questions:

• What caused the Civil War and to what extent did the Civil War accomplish what it set out to accomplish?

You will be able to:

• Analyze the most significant events that led to the Civil War and write an analytical response defending why the event was instrumental in causing war.

• Learn about the advantages North had over the South in winning the war. 

• Analyze the leadership of Abraham Lincoln
