Writing a Good Title
Titles have two purposes. The first is to give your audience at least a hint of the subject of your writing. The second is to hook the attention of your audience in some way. For some of you, the title will be obvious.
For those who are struggling to find one, consider this tip: Look through your writing (especially near the end) and find a phrase that could work well as a title. Look for something that will add an extra "punch" when your audience finally hears/reads it in your writing.
Peer Revision Tips & Ideas
For the Writers: When you share your writing with one peer, consider giving them a short WRITER'S MEMO that asks for specific areas of feedback. Perhaps you want to know about the flow of your writing, the effect it will have on the audience, the clarity of the story, or the sensory details that draw the audience in.
For the Revisers (Peers): Of course, if they include a writer's memo, then focus your feedback on that. Otherwise here are some things to look for:
Fluency/Flow - Will the writing sound natural when read out loud?
Clarity - Do all parts of the story make sense?
Effect - Does the writing have the intended effect? Funny? Sad? Etc.?
Details - Does the writing feel engaging and "real" to the audience?
Title - Does it draw you in and make sense?
