In terms 3 and 4 we will be building on the skills the children have already developed and supporting
them to:
Identify and moderate their own feelings socially and emotionally.
Think about the perspectives of others.
In terms 3 and 4 we will continue to have our weekly PSHE lessons through our SCARF scheme. These lessons enhance learning in all areas of personal, social and emotional development (PSED). In term 3 our unit of learning will be ‘keeping safe’ and in term 4 our unit of learning will be ‘rights and respect’. The SCARF scheme continues to work in line with the EYFS.
As the children continue their journey in EYFS, children will begin to be able to identify and moderate their own feelings socially and emotionally as well as thinking about the perspectives of others. This will be supported through embedded practice as the adults around them model self-regulation and continue to provide strategies to children. Our Hippo Class Rules support self-regulation as well as our SCARF scheme. We also read lots of stories that support PSED, such as ‘The Colour Monster’, throughout the year.
In terms 3 and 4 we will be building on the skills the children have already developed and supporting
them to:
Manage their own needs.
Be independent in meeting their own care needs.
As the children continue to settle, and develop their independence, children will begin to manage their own needs, becoming independent with meeting their own care needs too. This continues to be supported and encouraged by the adults around them.
In terms 3 and 4 we will be building on the skills the children have already developed and supporting
them to:
See themselves as a valuable individual.
Express their feelings and consider the feelings of others.
Through their relationships at school as well as at home, children will be supported to see themselves as valuable individuals, expressing their feelings and considering the feelings of others. Our SCARF scheme and stories support the children with developing these skills, as well as the nurturing support and embedded practice of the teaching team around them.
